Lady Rabbs rack up wins on the diamond
Atlanta 7, DeKalb 6
Atlanta’s softball squad opened district play on Mar. 2, with a, 7-6, win against DeKalb.
Despite nine hits by the Lady Rabbs and two homeruns by freshman slugger Tori Clayton the game was knotted at 6-all late.
Atlanta won in walk-off fashion thanks to a walk-off fielder’s choice at the end of the game by Kinlee Hamilton.
Jordan Hodge earned the win for the Lady Rabbs as she lasted six and two-thirds innings, allowed nine hits and six runs while striking out six and walking one.
Tori Clayton threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Clayton and Valerie Mason each had three hits in the contest.
Atlanta 5, Central Heights 4
The Lady Rabbs topped Central Heights, 5-4, in tournament play Mar. 4-6.
Atlanta was down, 4-3, in the bottom of the fourth inning when Tori Clayton homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.
The Lady Rabbits secured the lead for good with three runs in the fourth inning.
Clayton earned the win on the hill as she surrendered three runs on four hits over four innings, striking out six and walking zero. Jordan Hodge threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Kinlee Hamilton started the game for Atlanta and allowed zero hits and one run.
Aside from Clayton’s homerun Sabriiyah Young went yard in the second inning.
Atlanta 7, PG 7
Atlanta met up with Pleasant Grove in tournament play Mar. 4-6, and played the Lady Hawks to a 7-all tie.
Valerie Mason brought home a run in the first inning and the Lady Rabbs continued to stack runs from there.
Tori Clayton and Sydni Brooke Davis each had three hits apiece as part of Atlanta’s 11-hit parade.
Atlanta 7, Ore City 5
The Lady Rabbits claimed a, 7-5, win over Ore City in tourney play Mar. 4-6.
Up, 1-0, after the first inning Atlanta built a six-run lead in the second inning and then held off Ore City’s comeback charge.
Atlanta racked up eight hits with both Tori Clayton and Sydni Brooke Davis collecting two hits each in the game.
Clayton pitched two and a third innings, allowing two hits and five runs while striking out one and walking one.
Atlanta 8, Lufkin 4
Atlanta finished up tournament play by beating Lufkin, 8-4.
The game was tied at four in the bottom of the fifth until Tori Clayton singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
An inning earlier Sabriiyah Young doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run to tie things up at 4-all.
Atlanta battered Lufkin pitchers as they racked up 17 hits. Clayton, Sydni Brooke Davis, Jordan Hodge, Callie Dyer, Cara Taylor and Hannah Wall all had multiple hits.
Valerie Mason led things off in the pitcher’s circle for Atlanta and lasted four innings, allowing seven hits and four runs.
