Lady Rabbs rack up wins
Atlanta’s varsity softball team has been on a quite a roll since the season began.
The Lady Rabbs opened the season with three straight wins before tying in a contest against Pleasant Grove.
Atlanta won eight consecutive games afterwards before suffering its first defeat, a 1-0 decision, at the hands of the Nashville Lady Scrappers.
The Lady Rabbs have now won five in a row and sport a 9-0 district record as of this article. As I reported earlier in the season Atlanta topped Maud, McLeod, DeKalb, Central heights, Ore City and Lufkin.
Atlanta 5, Grand Saline 4
In receiving more information the Lady Rabbits topped Grand Saline 5-4 in tournament play Mar. 6.
The Lady Indians had Atlanta down 4-1 going into the top of the fifth frame but the Lady Rabbs put up four runs in that inning to take the win.
Valeri Mason, Victoria Clayton and Jordan Hodge shared time in the circle and combined for eight strikeouts.
Hodge hit a solo homerun in the game, Clayton was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, Cara Taylor hit an RBI single, Sydni Davis had a couple of hits, Mason hit an RBI single, Sabriiyah Young had a hit and Madeline Clayton had a hit.
Atlanta 10, North Webster 1
The Lady Rabbs hosted North Webster Mar. 8, and sent the Knights back to Louisiana with a 10-1 loss.
Jordan Hodge was a beast from the circle as she pitched six innings, scattered four hits and struck out 13.
Hodge also helped from the plate as she went 3-for-3 with a homer, a double and two RBIs, Victoria Clayton was 2-for-4 with an RBI, Sydni Davis was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, Valerie Mason added a couple of ribeyes, Callie Dyer had a single and an RBI, Sabriiyah Young hit a double with an RBI and Kinlee Hamilton accounted for three runs.
Atlanta 10, New Boston 0
Jordan Hodge tossed a 2-hit shutout Mar. 12, as the Lady Rabbs blanked New Boston 10-0 in district play.
Hodge pitched six innings and rang up eight batters and from the plate hit two doubles as part of her 3-for-3 day with two RBIs.
Valerie Mason was 2-for-3, Callie Dyer hit a double and had two RBIs, Madeline Clayton was 2-for-2 and Sabriiyah Young had a single and an RBI.
Atlanta 16, Paul Pewitt 0
Jordan Hodge was once again on fire from the circle as she pitched a 1-hit shutout in the Lady Rabbs’ 16-0 win over Paul Pewitt Mar. 16.
Hodge pitched all six innings and sat down 10 batters in the process.
Madeline Clayton was 2-for-2 with an RBI, Cara Taylor and Victoria Clayton each hit a single and claimed an RBI, Sydni Davis was 2-for-3 with a double, Callie Dyer hit a double and had an RBI and Sabriiyah Young, Kalissa Reliford and Jade Albertson accounted for two runs apiece.
Atlanta 14, Hooks 4
The Lady Rabbits had quite a game brewing Mar. 19, against Hooks as both teams were knotted at 4-4 after two innings.
Once Jordan Hodge settled in and kept the Lady Hornets from scoring, the Lady Rabbs went on a 10-0 run and took the 14-4 win over Hooks.
Hodge scattered eight hits over seven innings with five Ks.
Cara Taylor slammed a solo homerun over the wall in the sixth inning, Victoria Clayton was 4-5 with a double, a triple, a couple of singles and three RBIs, Sydni Davis was 3-for-5 with an RBI, Hodge and Valerie Mason each hit RBI singles, Callie Dyer was 2-for-2 with two RBIs, Sabriiyah Young hit a double and had a couple of ribbies and Madeline Clayton added a single.
Atlanta 0, Nashville 1
Atlanta’s only loss on the season came at the hands of the Nashville Lady Scrappers from Arkansas. This game ended with Nashville winning a tight one, 1-0. Unfortunately there were no stats for this contest.
Atlanta 4, Queen City 3
Nothing compliments a season like a good rivalry between two school districts separated by a city limit sign.
Atlanta hosted rival Queen City Mar. 23, and it was a good, close contest.
QC started off scoring two runs in the first frame but Atlanta answered and put up three runs of their own.
Each team scored just one more run each in the game as Atlanta held on to win, 4-3.
Jordan Hodge scattered five hits over seven innings with seven Ks and Trinity Oden, for QC, gave up four hits over six innings with four Ks.
Hodge hit a homerun in the game and had two RBIs, Sydni Davis was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Madeline Clayton added an RBI.
Trinity Oden was 2-for-3 from the dish for QC with two RBIs and Erica Lavoie added a couple of hits and an RBI.
Atlanta 6, Redwater 4
The Lady Rabbs battled Redwater Mar. 26, and came away with a 6-4 decision. Hodge pitched another complete game and scattered nine hits over seven innings with seven strikeouts.
Victoria Clayton hit a homer in the third frame and hit a double in the game, Sabriiyah Young, Hodge and Valeri Mason each added doubles, mason had two RBIs, Callie Dyer added one RBI and Kinlee Hamilton added a single.
Atlanta 14, DeKalb 3
The Lady Rabbits and DeKalb were knotted a 3-3 after two innings of play, but Atlanta scored 11 unanswered to grab a 14-3 win over the Lady Bears Mar. 30. Jordan Hodge scattered five hits over five innings with six strikeouts.
Sabriiyah Young was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs, Victoria Clayton hit two doubles and drove in five runs, Sydni Davis hit a single and a double while collecting three ribeyes, Cara Taylor had two hits with an RBI, Hodge hit a double, Valerie Mason and Callie Dyer each hit singles and Kinlee Hamilton, Madeline Clayton and Kalissa Reliford combined for six runs.
Atlanta 19, New Boston 4
The Lady Rabbs hosted New Boston Apr. 2, and sent the Lady Lions packing with a 19-4 loss.
New Boston jumped out to a 1-0 lead after the top of the first frame but Atlanta countered with three runs in the bottom portion of the first inning.
The Lady Lions scratched out three runs in the second only to watch Atlanta add five runs in the bottom half.
After that the Lady Rabbs tacked on 11 runs and won by 15.
Jordan Hodge scattered seven hits over five innings with four Ks.
Victoria Clayton had a big game from the dish as she drove in runs on a double in the third, a grand slam in the fourth and a single in the fourth.
All-in-all Clayton was 3-for-4 with six RBIs, Sabriiyah Young was 2-for-4 with a couple of RBIs, Valerie Mason added two hits with four RBIs, Hodge added a single, Cara Taylor, Callie Dyer, Jade Albertson and Sydni Davis each added RBI singles.
