L-K Tigers Baseball

Baseball is in full swing for the Linden-Kildare Tigers and although the season hasn’t gone according to plan yet the defending state finalists aren’t going to let that faze them.

The Tigers opened the season Feb. 24, with a 4-0 loss against Hughes Springs.

Feb. 27-29 the Tigers hosted the L-K Tournament.

L-K opened the tourney with an 8-8 tie against county foe Queen City and then fell to Sabine 5-0.

In the final game of the tournament L-K took on Union Grove.

L-K took a 2-0 lead in the second frame. Colt Neville hit a 2-out single which was followed by another single off the bat of Carter Foreman.

Deuce Schuler was hit by a pitch and the bases were loaded for Mason Johnson.

Johnson bashed a line drive single to left which plated Neville.

Foreman scored after a wild pitch got by the Union grove catcher.

In the bottom of the third inning Jackson Lee singled to right and made it to second base after an error led to J Owen being safe at first.

Neville lined another single which brought Lee in after an error on the Union Grove left fielder.

This put L-K up 3-0 after three innings of work.

The Lions put up four runs in the top of the fourth to take a 4-3 lead but the Tigers scored another run in the bottom half of the fourth inning to tie things up at 4-all.

The Lions scored another four runs in the fifth which proved to be the game.

Neville was 2-for-3, Johnson was 2-for-2 with an RBI, both Lee and Foreman were 1-for-2 from the dish and Nic Kunze picked up an RBI.

In the contest Kunze, Foreman and Kyler Fitts shared time on the hill.

The Tigers will be in action again Mar. 5-7 in the Minden Tournament and will return home for the district opener against Detroit Mar. 17.
