L-K junior high track teams compete
Both the Linden-Kildare junior high boys’ and girls’ track teams turned in nice numbers at their respective meets last week.
Girls
The seventh and eighth grade girls’ teams competed in the New Boston Invitational.
The seventh grade team placed fourth over Queen City, Hughes Springs, Hooks and Paul Pewitt.
“To say I was pleased, would be an understatement,” Head Coach Carla Hines said. “Both groups worked their butterflies out on the track. These young ladies ran with heart and represented our school exceptionally well.”
For the seventh grade Keirsten Underwood placed fourth in the 100m dash, Jamiah Birmingham placed first in the 200m dash and Underwood placed third, Carly Hays placed sixth in the 800m run and in the mile run Hannah Snow placed sixth.
The 4x100m relay team of Jacee Quaid, Zariah Mitchell, Jakiah Birmingham and Jamiah Birmingham placed second overall and the 4x200m relay team of Caitlin Stiger, Callie Johnson, Jamiah Birmingham and Jakiah Birmingham placed second overall.
For the eighth grade squad Zoe Love placed first in the 300m hurdles, Triniti Ramsdell placed sixth in the 400m dash and the 4x100m relay team of Zaliyah Mitchell, Triniti Ramsdell, Yedith Uribe and Zoe Love placed sixth.
Boys
L-K’s junior high boys’ track team traveled to Hooks for their first meet. The Tigers competed well and now have times to build on.
JaCorey Birmingham placed sixth in the 100m dash with a time of 13.34, Logan Grandmaison placed second in the 800 with a time of 2:31.70, Wrigley Roberts ran the 100/400, Westly Stanley ran the 100/200, Rowdy Black ran the 110 hurdles/400, Eldorado Padilla ran the 2400/1600, Kiefer Phillips ran the 800/1600 and Kolten Lemmon ran the 800/1600.
