L-K Basketball

Tigers

The Linden-Kildare boys’ basketball teams were in action recently in hostile territory as the Tigers took on the Detroit Eagles in another 15-2A district battle. The JV Tigers, with only six players dressed, got the night started with a, 46-16, win. This was the largest offensive output of the season as well as one of the best defensive performances. All six Tigers contributed to this team win. Jonathan Owen, Russel Nance and DQ Harrison were the leading scorers for the Tigers. The Tigers got five big points off of the bench from Travon Grant. Bug and Tawin Patterson also contributed with great defensive efforts. The varsity Tigers took the court in an attempt to keep pace with the pace that the JV Tigers set. L-K got out to a quick start leading after one and had a, 33-21, lead at halftime. The third quarter saw things tighten down as the Eagles shaved the lead to six (48-42) at quarter’s end. L-K trailed midway through the fourth by one at, 51-50, but finished on a furious 17-3 run and were able to come away with a hard fought, 67-54, victory. The Tigers were paced by Jordan Swanson with 23 big points. Red Tyson had 14 and Chase Bynum finished with 11, including some timely 3-point baskets. L-K shot 22/30 (79 percent) at the free-throw line which is a season high while the Eagles were 15/21 (71 percent). This win stopped a two-game losing skid and puts L-K back at .500 (2-2) in district play. The Tigers played Mc-Leod Tuesday and will host Maud this Friday.
