Grant program approved for Linden businesses

The Linden Economic Development Corporation has recently implemented its Grant Program to benefit existing businesses located in the city limits of Linden.

The Visibility and Signage Improvement Program is one of two avenues under the new program which provides technical and financial assistance to property owners or businesses who want to improve their exterior signage, lighting, or commercial building visibility for those in need of revitalization.

The VSIP will provide a matching grant of up to $5000 with 20% participant match for the funding of well-designed improvements including city-approved signage. LEDC staff will be available to assist applicants through the conceptual stage at no cost.

Improvements to be funded by VSIP must be compatible with the character and architecture of the building as well as meet city standards. Buildings with significant architectural qualities are strongly encouraged to restore and maintain these features.

Additionally, the Capital Investment Program provides financial assistance to business owners for equipment purchases that will increase sales and create jobs, and it is intended for equipment that is related directly to the business’ industry such as kitchen equipment or other industry-specific equipment.

Christoph Trahan, Executive Director of LEDC said, “These new grant programs are designed to ensure that the environment we have for our businesses to operate within is one that is conducive to their success and longevity.”

The CIP provides a grant of up to $2500 with 25% participant match toward the purchase of such equipment.
