Football Preview Week 8
Atlanta at Tatum
Atlanta travels to Tatum this week to take on the high-flying Eagles. These two teams have only been playing one another since 1995. The first three meetings were in the playoffs and the Eagles did have a 6-1 lead in the series up through 2011.
In 2014 that all changed as the Rabbs reeled off five consecutive wins. The Rabbs defeated Tatum 34-28 in district play in 2014 and later beat the Eagles 55-21 in the regional round that same year. Tatum won last year’s contest and is coming off of a 45-0 win over New Boston.
Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
Queen City at Waskom
Queen City hits the road this Friday night to take on state-ranked Waskom.
These two teams have battled each other since 1962 and Waskom leads the all-time series 16-9.
The two teams have not played consecutive games until the 2018 season when they were put in each other’s district. Queen City’s last win over Waskom was in 2007.
The Bulldogs are coming off of a 38-3 win over Ore City and Waskom is coming off of a 42-0 win over Hughes Springs.
Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
Linden-Kildare at Beckville
Linden-Kildare plays Beckville on the road this Friday night.
These two teams have only met up with each other three times and that has been the past few years of district play.
Beckville won the first contest in 2018 and last year’s bout. L-K beat the Bearcats in 2019.
The Tigers are coming off of a BYE week and the Bearcats are coming off a 63-0 win over Union Grove. Kickoff is scheduled at 7:30 p.m.
