Football Preview Week 1

Football is just a few days away and that line, “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” is playing through my head as it always does the week leading up to the first game.

Our coverage football teams have exciting matchups in week one, and I believe it’s going to be a great way to kick off the new season.

When you talk about blueblood high school football teams Daingerfield must be brought up in the conversation.

The Tigers will welcome the Rabbits this Friday night for the first game of the season.

Atlanta and Daingerfield have played each other 65 times with the Rabbs owning the all-time record of 35-29-1.

Atlanta won the first 10 matchups beginning in 1940 and the Tigers had an 8-game win streak throughout the 80’s.

The Tigers have an all-time record of 632-359- 25 and have won 6-of-9 state championships it has played in.

Atlanta has an all-time record of 562-401-32 and won a state championship back in 2003.

The also won last year’s contest 16-6. Before that Atlanta had beaten the Tigers in five straight games.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

The sixth installment of the Cass County Clash will take place this Friday night at Jack Hetherington-Tiger Stadium when Linden-Kildare hosts county rival Queen City.

These two teams have been playing each other since 1952 and the Tigers won the first 19 meetings.

Although L-K owns the all-time record of 30-6 the Bulldogs look to build on last year’s 14-0 win over the Tigers and start a winning streak of its own.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
