Atlanta Softball Carthage tournament

Atlanta’s varsity softball team opened its 2023 season by competing in the Carthage tournament.

On Feb. 17, the Lady Rabbs topped Garrison 6-2 behind Kinlee Hamilton’s seven-strikeout performance.

Hamilton scattered three hits and gave up only two runs, none of those earned.

Keirsten Underwood had two doubles with an RBI, Kalissa Reliford added a double with an RBI, Hamilton and Gabby Petrofsky each hit singles and Tori Clayton added an RBI of her own.

In the second game of the day the Lady Rabbs fell to host Carthage 7-2.

Tori Clayton had two hits for Atlanta. On Feb. 18, took losses to both Marshall and New Diana.

In the 1-run loss to New Diana, Ashton Smith and Anna Davis each had a single with a RBI apiece, Tori Clayton and Gabby Petrofsky each had two hits with an RBI apiece and Keirsten Underwood added a single.

vs. Ashdown

On Feb. 21, Atlanta met up with Ashdown.

The Lady Panthers beat the Lady Rabbits 10-0 with Tori Clayton picking up Atlanta’s only hit in the game.

McLeod tournament

Atlanta’s JV softball squad too part in the McLeod tourney Feb. 24 and 25.

In the first game, Atlanta lost a close contest to Bloomburg 4-3. Michaela Knight pitched four innings and gave up just two hits while striking out four.

Keirsten Underwood had an RBI, Gabby Petrofsky had two singles, Knight added a single, Ashlyn Webb hit a single and Brylee Fiscus hit a single.

In the second game, Atlanta lost to Hughes Springs 11-1 with Gabby Petrofsky hitting a single and collecting an RBI.

On Feb. 25, the Lady Rabbs shutout Harts Bluff 16-0 in three innings.

Toya Hurd and Blake combined for the no-no from the circle. Alexis Brooks hit a triple, Hurd had two hits with two RBI’s, Carlajah Adger had two hits with an RBI, Gabby Petrofsky added two hits with four ribbies, Sarah Blake had two hits with an RBI, Brylee Fiscus had an RBI and Ashlyn Webb had a single with an RBI.

In game two, Atlanta lost to host McLeod 2-1 with Michaela Knight hitting a single and earning an RBI, Brylee Fiscus added two hits, Gabby Petrofsky hit a double and Toya Hurd hit a single.

Atlanta Baseball vs. Harmony

Atlanta’s varsity baseball team opened its season against Harmony. The Rabbs lost the game by a close margin of 3-2.

Jayden Riley had two hits with a double and two RBI’s, Easton Owens added a single, Nick Burden added a single, Ty Graf hit a single and Dex Ebarb hit a single.

Mt. Pleasant tournament

The Rabbs competed in the Mt. Pleasant tourney Feb. 23-25 and came out of the fray 1-1-2.

Atlanta beat Paris 12-0, lost to Mt. pleasant 6-2 and tied both Sulphur Springs (4-4) and Pittsburg (3-3).

The game against Paris was only four innings as the Rabbs put up six runs in the first frame, two in the second and four in the fourth.

Woodruff blanked the Wildcats with a no-hitter and struck out six. Woodruff also hit a single and had an RBI in the contest from the dish.

Each batter had at least one hit as Nick Burden crushed a double, Ty Graf hit a double and had two ribbies, Dex Ebarb and Peyton Harrison hit singles, Easton Owens hit two singles and two ribeyes, Brendan Clayon had a single with an RBI, Peyton Gaston hit a double and had two RBI’s and Brady Partain had a single with two RBI’s.

In the contest against Mt. Pleasant, Chris Hale, Eli Stevens and Peyton Gaston shared time on the hill.

Peyton Harrison had two hits with a double, Brendan Clayton smacked two singles, Nick Burden hit a single and Easton Owens had an RBI.

In Atlanta’s tie with Sulphur Springs, Dryden, Burden and Gaston shared time on the hill.

Will Woodruff had three hits with a double, Ty Graf hit an RBI triple, Dex Ebarb hit a double and had an RBI, Brendan Clayton hit a single and had an RBI and Ty Waldon had an RBI.

In the tie with Pittsburg, Dryden, Burden and Harrison all shared time on the bump.

Will Woodruff had a couple of hits with a double, Burden added a hit, Ty Graf had a single and an RBI, Dex Ebarb had two hits with a double and a ribbie and Chris Swanson hit a single.

Queen City Softball Bayou City Classic

Queen City’s varsity softball team kicked off its season by competing in the Bayou City Classic at Rosenberg High School just outside of Houston on Feb. 16, 17 and 18.

The Lady Bulldogs held their own as they went toe-to-toe with big programs such as Coppell.

In the first contest the Lady Bulldogs suffered a 4-0 loss to Macarthur. Erica Lavoie had a couple of hits in the game for QC.

In the next game QC fell to Victoria 6-2 although Trinity Oden struck out 10 batters in the contest.

Jacey Cauthorn had two hits and an RBI, Erica Lavoie hit a single, Serenity Oden hit a single and Brenna Turbeville hit a single.

On Feb. 17, the Lady Bulldogs started off the day with an 11-8 win over Lockhart.

Serenity Oden scattered four hits over six innings with two strikeouts.

Lauren Carrell was on fire from the plate as she crushed a homerun, hit a double and collected two ribbies, Trinity Oden also homered and had two RBI’s, Brenna Turbeville had three hits with a triple and two ribeyes, Serenity Oden brought in two runs, Jacey Cauthorn and Laurel Moore hit singles and both Keeli Mainer and Erica Lavoie hit RBI singles.

The next game was a slugfest, but the Lady Bulldogs fell to Coppell 18-17 on a walk off double.

Brenna Turbeville had four hits with a double and three RBI’s, Serenity Oden had three hits with a double and three ribbies, Jacey Cauthorn had two hits with a double and three RBI’s, Trinity Oden hit a single, Mallori Stringer had three hits with two doubles and three RBI’s, Laurel Moore hit a triple, Kelsey Nash had two hits and Erica Lavoie had two hits with two ribeyes.

On Feb. 18, the Lady Bulldogs beat Franklin 5-2 behind Trinity Oden’s 10 strikeout-performance.

Both Brenna Turbeville and Serenity Oden had two hits with one RBI apiece, Jacey Cauthorn added an RBI, Mallori Stringer hit a single and Lauren Carrell hit a single. vs. Beckville On Feb. 20, the Lady Bulldogs took on Beckville and fell 8-4. Trinity Oden struck out seven from the circle.

Brenna Turbeville hit a solo homerun, Serenity Oden hit a single, Trinity Oden hit a triple, Jacey Cauthron had an RBI, Erica Lavoie had an RBI, Mallori Stringer hit a single and Kelsey Nash had two hits with a triple and an RBI.

Whitehouse tourney

The Lady Bulldogs bounced back from the loss to Beckville and won five games in a row as they took part in the Whitehouse tourney Feb. 23-25.

In game one QC topped Mineola 12-1 in a game that last just four innings.

Trinity Oden scattered two hits and had five strikeouts. Mallori Stringer crushed a 3-run homerun and hit a double in the contest, Lauren carrell had three hits with a triple and an RBI, Brenna Turbeville hit a single, Serenity Oden had two hits, Jacey Cauthorn hit an RBI single, Keeli Mainer hit a single and Erica Lavoie had two hits with four ribbies.

In game two, the Lady Bulldogs beat Quitman 6-1. Mallori Stringer smashed a solo homerun in the game, Brenna Turbeville had two hits with a triple, Trinity Oden had a ribbie, Jacey Cauthorn added a single and Erica Lavoie hit an RBI single.

In the third contest, QC edged Spring Hill 3-2 with both Serenity and Trinity Oden sharing time in the circle.

Brenna Turbeville ripped a pair of doubles, Trinity Oden had two hits with a triple and two ribeyes, Jacey Cauthorn had a hit with an RBI and Kelsey Nash hit a single.

In the fourth game, QC defeated Pine Tree 3-0 with Trinity Oden scattering just two hits and striking out seven. Serenity Oden notched an RBI, Jacey Cauthorn hit two singles, Laurel Moore hit a double and Erica Lavoie had two hits with a double and two RBI’s.

In the fifth and final contest for QC, the Lady Bulldogs torched Athens 10-3. Serenity Oden and her sister Trinity combined for seven strikeouts.

Serenity Oden hit a pair of singles, Jacey Cauthorn had two hits with a double and a ribeye, Mallori Stringer, Lauren Carrell and Kelsey Nash hit RBI singles and both Kelli Mainer and Kylie Parker picked up RBI’s.
