Lady Bulldogs
Queen City’s softball team battled Hooks on Apr. 5, for first place in the district standings.
The last time the two teams met QC gave up a couple of runs late in a narrow 5-4 loss.
That was the last time the Lady Bulldogs lost a game and that win column number now stands at six straight after QC topped Hooks 9-1.
Trinity Oden was on fire from the circle as she gave up only four hits over seven innings and struck out 13.
Erica Lavoie was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Jacey Cauthorn smacked a couple of singles, Mallori Stringer had a couple of hits with a ribbie and Brenna Turbeville, Serenity Oden and Trinity Oden each hits singles in the game.
Queen City is now (7-1) in district play and sits atop the standings in first place.
Hooks, who only has two losses on the year total, is (6-2), Atlanta is (5-2), Redwater is (6-3), DeKalb is (4-5), Pewitt is (1-8) and New Boston is (0-8).
QC blanked Redwater 7-0 on Apr. 8.
Trinity Oden struck out six over seven innings.
Jacey Cauthorn hit a double and Erica Lavoie hit two triples.
Mallori Stringer, Oden, Lauren Carrell, and Laurel Moore added hits as well.
Lady Tigers
Linden-Kildare’s softball team beat James Bowie 12-2 on Apr. 5.
Hayley Mason gave up three hits in five innings and struck out seven batters. Zaliyah Mitchell gave up one hit in her one inning of relief and sat down two batters.
Alivia Carlisle hit a RBI single, Ashtin Patterson hit two singles, a double and had a RBI, Emily Wall hit a double, Mason hit a RBI single, Kaycee Neville hit a single and a dub and had two RBIs, Kyndal Fitts hit a single, a double and had a ribbie, Sydney Hampton hit a single and had two ribeyes and Mitchell hit a RBI single.
The Lady Tigers beat Maud 16-7 on Apr. 8.
Zaliyah Mitchell picked up the win for L-K from the circle and three hits from the dish.
Kaycee Neville, Sydney Hampton and Mitchell each hit doubles in the game.
Tigers
L-K’s baseball squad fell to James Bowie 13-6 on Apr. 5.
The Tigers were led by a strong pitching performance by Maysen Lemmon, and catcher Max Belford helped out defensively by throwing two guys out trying to steal.
Jonathan Owen, Carter Foreman, Jackson Lee, Trey Phillips and Lemmon each had one hit apiece for the Tigers.
The JV team lost to James Bowie 8-4. “The JV team had two innings that hurt them. Outside of those two innings these guys battled and played hard,” Coach Sean Baskin said. “These guys have come a long way so far this season. They are a fun group to watch learn the game and grow.”
Lady Wildcats
Bloomburg topped James Bowie 15-5 on Apr. 8.
Jaysi Pond picked up the win from the circle and Corinne Ray hit her fourth dinger of the year.
Pond hit a double in the game, Katie Mote hit a double, Ray added two doubles, Sunni Blizzard hit a dub and Emalee Blizzard hit a double.
Skyler Newell and Katlen McKinnie hit singles, Haylee Breedlove and Kaleigh Glasgow hit two singles each and Ray led the way with four hits and six RBIs.
Rabbs Atlanta beat Paul Pewitt 6-4 on Apr. 8, by scoring
Atlanta beat Paul Pewitt 6-4 on Apr. 8, by scoring three runs late in the contest.
Nick Burden hit a triple and had three RBIs, Cooper McClure added a couple of singles, Ty Graf had a RBI single, Dex Ebarb added a RBI and Ashton Harper hit a single.
Lady Rabbs
The Lady Rabbits thumped Pewitt 18-3 on Apr. 8.
The game was called after just four innings of play as Atlanta led 16-3 going into the fourth frame.
Jordan Hodge picked up the win after giving up just two hits and striking out five.
Jade Albertson hit two doubles and accrued six RBIs, Hodge added a single, a double and a RBI, Tori Clayton, Cara Taylor, Sabriiyah Young and Madeline Clayton hit RBI singles, Maddie had a single and two ribbies and Sydni Davis had a RBI.
