Atlanta Baseball

Atlanta’s baseball team edged New Diana Mar. 1.

Peyton Harrison had two hits with two RBI’s in the contest, Brennan Gaston added a double with two RBI’s and Kale Carpenter had a double.

Atlanta won 11-1 win over Camden-Fairview from Arkansas on Mar. 3.

Harrison was 2-for-2 from the dish with a RBI, Peyton Gaston added a RBI, Brennan Gaston had a hit and a RBI and Ashton Harper.

Atlanta Softball

Atlanta’s softball team cruised to a 14-4 win over DeKalb on Mar. 1. Jordan Hodge gave up no hits and struck out five from the circle and teammate Valarie Mason scattered three hits with three K’s.

Cara Taylor was 2-for-2 from the plate with a homerun and three ribbies, Tori Clayton was 4-for-4 with a double and two RBI’s, Sydni Davis added two ribeyes, Hannah Wall had a hit and a RBI, Sabriiyah Young added two doubles and a RBI, Kinlee Hamilton had two doubles and a RBI and Ashton Smith had a hit and a RBI.

Atlanta’s softball team took part in the Marshall Tournament Mar. 3-5.

The Lady Rabbs kicked things off with a 12-3 win over the host team. Cara Taylor smacked another homerun and had a double and three RBI’s, Allie Jefferson added a hit, Tori Clayton had a double, Sydni Davis had a single and a RBI, Mason and Sabriiyah Young added hits and both Kinlee Hamilton and Hannah Wall notched RBI’s.

In the second contest Atlanta fell to Huntsville 4-0.

Valarie Mason had the only hit for the Lady Rabbs.

In the third contest Atlanta topped Mt. Pleasant Chapel Hill 11-4. Jordan Hodge struck out seven in four innings of work. Sydni Davis was 3-for-3 with a double and a triple with a RBI, Tori Clayton was 2-for-2 with a triple and a homerun with four RBI’s, Cara Taylor added a double, Anna Davis had a double, Allie Jefferson had an RBI single and Hodge recorded a RBI.

In the fourth contest the Lady Rabbs blanked Chisholm Trail 10-0. Allie Jefferson was 2-for-3 with a RBI, Sydni Davis was 2-for-3 with a double and five RBI’sTori Clayton added tripl and a RBI, Cara Taylor hit a double, Valarie Mason, Sabriiyah Young and Anna Davis each had a hit and a RBI in the game and Hodge hit a single.

In the final game of the tourney Atlanta tied with Lufkin at 2-2. Cara Taylor hit a triple, Tori Clayton added a couple of singles, Hodge hit a single and both Sydni Davis and Hannah Wall had one RBI apiece.

L-K Tigers – Coach Baskin

Linden-Kildare’s baseball team played a 3-game series against DeKalb last weekend.

On Friday L-K beat DeKalb 6-4.

Trey Phillips earned the win for the Tigers as the lefty allowed five hits over seven innings with six K’s. Asher Wells led L-K with two hits in three at bats.

On Saturday the two teams split but the Tigers won the series 2-1. In game one the Tigers lost to the Bears 8-1. Jonathan Owen, Jakyrik Nard, Jackson Lee, and Asher Wells all had one hit in the game.

In the second contest L-K edged DeKalb 5-4. Maysen Lemmon led the Tigers to victory on the hill as he surrendered four hits over six and two-thirds innings, striking out eight. Peyton Foreman threw one-third of an inning in relief .

Asher Wells and Lee each had two hits apiece as the Tigers banged out seven hits.

“All-in-all Saturday was excellent for many reasons,” Coach Baskin said. “We got quality reps and learned a lot about the game, we got to give glory to God for the beautiful weather he blessed us with, we got to honor our grandparents and got to have a blast playing a well-coached DeKalb Bears’ team. Hats off to Andrew Grider and his staff, they have a great thing going over there.”

Lady Tigers – Coach Cave

“First of all, we were very proud to see that Max-Preps had our L-K Lady Tiger softball team ranked No. 1 in Class 2A in the state! That’s a great accomplishment!”

“After three tough losses to open the Union Grove Tournament we went back on Friday with determination to get back on the winning track and we did just that. We faced Jefferson and Harmony, both 3A teams. Against Jefferson in game one, Hayley Mason pitched a no-hitter and also hit two home runs, leading the way to a 24-0 win.”

“Our ladies played a great defensive game against Harmony and the bats were hot with the final score being 10-3.” “Because of her accomplishments over the week

“Because of her accomplishments over the weekend, Hayley Mason was presented the L-K All-Tournament player award, and so far this season, our Lady Tigers have a combined total of 10 homeruns.”
