Queen City’s varsity softball team beat rival Atlanta 8-0 on Mar. 7, behind Trinity Oden’s no-hitter.
Oden struck out 13 batters from the circle and hit two bombs with a collection of four RBI’s from the dish. Both homeruns were 2-run shots.
Brenna Turbeville had three hits with an RBI, Lauren Carrell hit a double, Kelsey Nash hit a single and a dub and laurel Moore added a single with two ribbies.
The Lady Bulldogs hosted state-ranked Hughes Springs on Mar. 10, due to wet conditions in Hughes Springs.
The Lady Mustangs scored two runs in the first but QC plated nine in the bottom half of the first frame en route to a solid 12-5 win over Hughes Springs.
Trinity Oden scattered seven hits with 10 strikeouts. Serenity Oden slammed a solo homerun which was followed by a 3-run homer off the bat of Trinity and a grand slam by Brenna Turbeville later in that first inning.
Serenity ended up with a homer and an RBI, Trinity hit that one homer with three RBI’s, Turbeville hit that slam and had four ribbies, Mallori Stringer had two hits, Jacey Cauthorn added a hit with two ribeyes, Erica Lavoie hit an RBI single, Kelsey Nash hit a double and both Lauren Carrell and Keeli Mainer hit singles.
Atlanta’s varsity baseball team battled rival Queen City on Mar. 7, and won 5-2.
Will Woodruff scattered five hits and rang up five batters and Nick Burden pitched an inning of relief and struck out three batters.
Woodruff hit a double from the plate and Peyton Harrison had an RBI double.
For QC, Clint Wiley scattered two hits and struck out seven and Reginald Harrison struck out four in his two innings of work on the hill.
Rylee Green hit two singles, both Wiley and Harrison added singles, Micah Whittington posted two hits and Kaden Satterfield had an RBI single.
Atlanta blanked Pittsburg 6-0 on Mar. 9, in tournament play.
Eli Dryden scattered four hits over six innings with five K’s. Nick Burden hit a double, Ty Graf had two hits with two ribeyes, Easton Owens hit a single and a double and had two RBI’s, Corbin Farmer hit a single and a double and had an RBI and Brady Partain added a single.
The Rabbits beat Daingerfield 5-2 on Mar. 9, in tourney play.
Peyton Harrison scattered three hits and had six strikeouts. Harrison also hit a 2-run bomb, hit a single and had three RBI’s, Nick Burden had a hit with two ribbies, Will Woodruff and Cooper Swanson hit singles, and Dex Ebarb had two hits with a double and a single.
On Mar. 11, the Rabbs edged Hughes Springs 2-1 with Peyton Gaston, Peyton Harrison and Eli Stevens sharing time on the hill.
Will Woodruff hit an RBI single, Ty Graf hit a double and the Rabbs picked up singles from Dex Ebarb, Nick Burden, Corbin Farmer and Cooper Swanson.
