Atlanta Softball
Atlanta’s softball team took on Texas High on Feb. 28. The game was close throughout, but Texas High pulled away late for a 6-3 win.
Anna Davis hit two singles and had one RBI, Kinlee Hamilton hit a double and had an RBI, Carlajah Adger hit a single and Tori Clayton hit a single.
The Lady Rabbs competed in the Marshall tournament on Mar. 3, and fell to Pleasant Grove with Sarah Blake picking up the only hit for Atlanta and fell to host Marshall with Kalissa Reliford and Gabby Petrofsky picking up singles.
On Mar. 4, the Lady Rabbs fell to South Hills out of Ft. Worth during the Marshall tourney.
Toya Hurd hit an RBI double, Tori Clayton added an RBI single, Keirsten Underwood hit a single and Carlajah Adger hit a single.
The final game of the tourney for Atlanta was a loss to Central heights out of Nacogdoches.
Aleesha Parkman had an RBI single, Sarah Blake added an RBI single, Anna Davis hit two singles with an RBI and both Carlajah Adger and Kalissa Reliford hit singles.
Atlanta Baseball
Atlanta’s baseball team picked up a nice 7-5 win over New Diana on Feb. 28.
The Rabbs went ahead early as they built a 7-2 lead going into the final frame. New Diana scored three runs in the bottom half of the seventh in a comeback attempt, but it fell short.
Will Woodruff scattered four hits over six innings and struck out six, and Nick Burden pitched an inning of relief.
Dex Ebarb was 3-for-4 with three singles and three RBI’s, Burden hit a double and had two RBI’s from the plate, Ty Graf hit a double and Brady Partain hit a single.
Queen City Softball
Queen City’s softball squad took on Paul Pewitt in its first district game of the season on Feb. 28.
The Lady Bulldogs scored early and often as this contest was over in five innings. QC scored four runs over the first two frames and put up nine in the third to win the game 13-0.
Trinity Oden was electric from the circle as she struck out 11 and gave up no hits. Serenity Oden pitched in relief and gave up no hits while striking out two batters.
Trinity began the game by striking out eight batters in a row before a line drive out at first stopped the streak.
She also hit a 2-run bomb, hit a single and raked in three RBI’s.
Brenna Turbeville hit a single, a double and had an RBI, Serenity had two hits with four ribbies, Lauren Carrell added a single and Kelsey Nash had an RBI.
On Mar. 2-4, the Lady Bulldogs took part in the Saginaw tournament. Saginaw is a northwest suburb of Ft. Worth.
Coming into the tourney QC was on a 6-game winning streak, which included winning the Whitehouse tourney, and had beaten some big schools in the process.
This tourney threw some big schools at the Lady Bulldogs as well but was the same outcome as QC went 4-1-1 against 5A and 6A teams and outscored the opposition 50-5.
In the first game QC topped host Saginaw 9-0 with Trinity Oden pitching a 2-hit shutout.
From the dish Trinity had two hits with a triple, Mallori Stringer connected for a 2-run homerun and hit a triple and had three ribeyes, Brenna Turbeville had two hits with two RBI’s, Serenity Oden added an RBI double, Jacey Cauthorn had an RBI double, Lauren Carrell hit an RBI double and Erica Lavoie hit a single.
In the second contest QC thumped Lubbock Estacado 15-0 in a 3-inning affair. The Lady Bulldogs put up nine runs in the first frame and six in the second.
For what little time there was in terms of innings played, Trinity Oden pitched another gem as she struck out seven of the 10 batters she faced.
Serenity Oden was on fire from the plate as she missed hitting for the cycle by just a double. Serenity notched three hits which included a homerun, a triple and a single and had three RBI’s.
Mallori Stringer had two hits with a double and an RBI, Brenna Turbeville added an RBI, Trinity hit an RBI single, Keeli Mainer added two singles with three ribbies and Erica Lavoie had a single with two RBI’s.
The next two opponents didn’t fare much better as QC beat Fossil Ridge 5-0 and Melissa 17-0.
Against Fossil Ridge Trinity Oden gave up two hits and struck out eight.
Brenna Turbeville had two hits with a triple and two RBI’s, Serenity Oden had an RBI triple, Mallori Stringer hit an RBI single and Laurel Moore hit a single.
In the Melissa contest Serenity Oden struck out three hitters and gave up two hits in three innings of play. Brenna Turbeville and Jenna Lavoie hit triples, Jacey Cauthorn hit two doubles, Mallori Stringer hit a double and Keeli MJainer hit a double.
Serenity Oden added three RBI’s, Stringer two and Cauthorn two.
On the final day of the tourney QC tied with Richland 1-1 and took its only loss to the Lady Tigers 4-3.
