Atlanta Baseball

Atlanta’s baseball team started off the season by playing a tough gauntlet of teams.

Feb. 24, the Rabbs lost a close game to Pleasant Grove by a score of 4-3.

The Rabbits were up 3-0 after the first inning but the Hawks tied it up by scoring three in the third frame. PG went on to score one more run in the fifth and kept the Rabbs off the board for the remainder of the contest.

Kade Wood was 2-for-2; Cooper McClure, Max Ebarb, Kolby Mason and Randall Mason each added hits in the game and Kelby Smith, Ebarb and Kolby Mason added RBIs.

Ebarb, Randall Mason and Smith shared time on the hill.

In the Texas/Louisiana Tournament the Rabbs fell to Haughton 17-7. Kade Wood was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI for the Rabbits. Atlanta also fell to Parkway 10-5 with Kade Wood going 3-for-5, Kelby Smith had to knocks and Cooper McClure added a pair of singles.

Atlanta picked up its first win of the season in a 4-1 win over Evangel. Cooper McClure was 2-for-3, Max Ebarb was 2-for-4 with a double and two ribbies and Kale Carpenter hit a pair of singles. Ebarb went the distance on the hill for the Rabbs as he gave up only three hits over eight innings with 11 strikeouts.

To finish the tourney the Rabbs fell to Benton 11-3. Kade Wood was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a triple, Kelby Smith hit a triple and notched an RBI, Max Ebarb added a double, Keyonta King hit a double and Reese Utley had a single. Mar. 2, the Rabbits topped a tough Spring Hill team 8-1 behind a masterful pitching performance by Randall Mason.

Jackson Warren and Keyonta King both had two-hit games, Max Ebarb hit a double and the Rabbs received single contributions from Hunter Allen, Kade Wood, Kolby Mason and Kale Carpenter.

Queen City Softball

Queen City’s softball program was in action last week as they took part in the McLeod Tournament. The JV team beat Maud’s varsity squad 12-2 but took two losses to both McLeod’s varsity (6-4) and Detroit’s varsity (10-6).

The varsity team swept through its opponents as they topped Detroit (16-1), McLeod (10-2) and Maud (11-0).
