Clare Wong ready for state

Queen City’s Clare Wong is looking to defend her state championship. She rolled through the Regional tennis tourney and is prepared for the next challenge.

When asked what goal she set before the season began, Clare replied, “Before the season started, I did set two main goals for myself. The first goal was to strengthen my net game and the second goal was to become the state champion again.”

When asked how it feels to make it to the State level for the third time Clare said, “To be able to have the chance to compete at state for the third time is truly a blessing. I have been looking forward to this moment since last year. At the state tournament there is a different energy surrounding the matches and being able to play in that environment is definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity.”

When asked what goes through her mind before each match, she remarked, “Tennis is a mental game just as much as it is a physical game. I try to stay as focus as possible and keep a positive mindset. Especially when playing singles and you are by yourself on court, it is extremely important to encourage yourself and keep fighting for every point.”
