Bulldogs lose heartbreaker game to Frankston, 27-26

Queen City had the opportunity to go 4-0 for the second straight year, but back-to-back heartbreakers have the Bulldogs sitting at 2-2.

After losing to Quitman 25-20 last week the Bulldogs fell to Frankston 27-26 this past Friday night.

The Indians owned the first quarter as they scored two touchdowns and took a 13-0 lead into the second frame.

QC got on the board at the 5:20 mark after Delvon Federick bolted into the endzone from nine yards out.

The 2-point attempt was no good but QC cut the lead to 13-6.

Frankston scored once more before halftime and the successful 2-point play put the Indians up 21-7.

QC had a fever and the only prescription was more touchdowns by Jeremiah Drayton.

Drayton scored the only touchdown of the third quarter and QC was within 21-12 after the 2-point play was busted up.

Drayton scored twice more in the fourth quarter.

QC QB Clint Wiley hit Ryle Green for one 2-point conversion, but the second attempt failed and would come back to haunt the Dawgs.

The Bulldogs had a 26-21 lead until the Indians scored again with just under two minutes left in the game.

After the unsuccessful 2-point play the Indians held a slim 27-26 lead.

The Bulldogs couldn’t make up the difference and lost by one point.

Drayton led the Bulldogs posted 160 yards on the ground and three touchdowns, Federick added 21 yards and a touchdown, Wiley passed for 120 yards and Quiyon Ellison recorded 47 yards receiving.

QC will play its third consecutive home game this Friday night as they host Elysian Fields in the district opener.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
