Bulldog cross country teams compete at Gilmer
The Queen City varsity boys’ and Morris Upchurch Middle School boys’ cross-country teams ran at the Gilmer Invitational on Aug. 26.
QC had three high school boys compete and five middle school boys compete. Both divisions had 90 boys run their respective races. High School boys run a 5K (3-mile) course. JH boys run a 2-mile course.
For the high school runners, senior Timothy Brady finished 28th with a time of 21:05.5, senior Xavior Allison finished 46th with a time of 21:56.4 and sophomore Caleb Kimble finished 59th with a time of 23:24.4.
The MUMS boys’ team consisted of eighth graders Landry Blythe and Porter Thompson and seventh graders Braxton Jones, Silas Miller and TJ Rose. The team finished ninth overall.
Individual finishes were: Landry Blythe, first with a time of 11:56.4, TJ Rose 31st with a time of 15:00.8, Braxton Jones 37th with a time of 15:18.6, Porter Thompson 86th with a time of 23:04.9 and Silas Miller 89th with a time of 25:40.0.
The MUMS team was missing a couple of runners due to illness or previous commitment.
The varsity boys and JV girl Mia Keiser will run Thursday Aug. 31, at Pittsburg in the Tony Segura Classic.
