No. 2/6 McLeod 68, Linden-Kildare 46
McLeod finished the regular season schedule as back-toback undefeated district champions after topping county foe Linden-Kildare, 68-46, Feb. 6.
The Longhorns (18-4, 12-0) have won 13 straight since its last loss to a team from Arkansas back in December.
Linden-Kildare will represent the district as the third place finisher behind state-ranked McLeod and Rivercrest.
McLeod jumped out to a, 27-13, lead after the first quarter but L-K’s scrappy play in the second frame set the score at, 37-26, at halftime.
A 30-21 run in the second half coupled with the big first quarter set the tone for the Longhorns’ win.
The nets had to be doused with water constantly as both Keldyn Schubert and Casey Smith scorched the nets.
Schubert posted 26 points, Smith added 25 and Nathan Parker poured in eight points.
Jacob Swanson also set the nets on fire with 20 points for L-K, Mason Johnson added 11 and both Puff Peters and Karson Bynum scored six each.
The JV team beat L-K, 42-21, with Henry Teer scoring 14, Braden Parker eight and Parker Patrick seven.
No. 2/6 McLeod 61, James Bowie 28
McLeod used a 23-5 run in the fourth quarter to steamroll James Bowie, 61-28, Feb. 2.
The Longhorns had a, 34-19, lead at the break but both teams only scored four points apiece in the third frame.
McLeod put the game away in the final period.
Nos Gryder led all scorers with 15 points, Keldyn Schubert added 12, Casey Smith nine, Austin Gilmore eight, Silas Murdock six, Gabe Groves five and Nathan Parker four.
The JV team rolled as well with a, 40-12, win over James Bowie. Brennan Penny turned in 11 points and Henry Teer had eight.
No. 14 Atlanta 99, Paul Pewitt 53
Atlanta smacked Paul Pewitt, 99-53, Feb. 5. Daimion Collins had 30 points, Kenyen Washington added 26, Alex Boston 20, Stacy Darty eight, Keyshawn Easter seven and Kameron Dickerson six.
No. 14 Atlanta 61, DeKalb 41
Atlanta won another district championship Feb. 8, after beating DeKalb, 61-41.
Daimion Collins collected a double-double with 23 points and 10 boards, Keyshawn Easter added 10 points and six steals, Caleb Hamilton had 10 points with five assists, Kenyen Washington posted eight points, Alex Boston had seven points and seven rebounds and Kameron Dickerson had three points.
L-K 68, Detroit 43
Linden-Kildare topped Detroit, 68-43, in district play Jan 29.
The Tigers jumped ahead in the first quarter and never looked back.
Mason Johnson led all scorers with 21 points, Jordan Swanson and Jonathan Owen both added 12, Chase Bynum posted 11 and Russel Nance recorded seven points.
With the win L-K sealed a playoff bid. A much bigger highlight of the night came when several L-K players made provisions for a Detroit player with special needs to score six points. The student-athletes provided the kid and Detroit community a memory for a lifetime.
Queen City 44, DeKalb 62
Queen City’s varsity girls’ basketball squad fell to DeKalb, 62-44, in district play Feb. 2.
Hannah Fitts led the way with 11 points, Chlole Philippi added eight, Jamecia Cook six, Nyla Harrison and Serenity Oden four and Alex Larry three. Gracie Weeks, Erica Lavoie, Lauren Carrell and Mallori Stringer scored two points each in the contest.

All three Atlanta Middles School boys’ basketball programs have 9-0 records and have clinched district titles with one game left on the schedule.
The seventh grade A team beat New Boston, 38-23, with Jayden Riley scoring 25 points and Toddy Webster 12.
The seventh grade B team beat the Lions, 15-5, with Sye Stroman tossing in eight points.
The eighth grade A team beat New Boston, 36-28, with Braylen Rowe putting in 12 points and Keylin Batton scoring 10 points.
