Longhorns
McLeod dug its way out of an early deficit against Avery on Nov. 19 and used a second-half explosion to beat the Bulldogs 41-33.
Avery led 13-6 after quarter one and had a 19-12 lead at halftime. The Longhorns (2-1) were determined in the second half as they outscored the Bulldogs 29-14 to sela the 8-point victory.
Kason Cook posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, Trey Gant added nine points with five boards, Patrick Dickerson netted seven points with seven rebounds, Kason Tyson scored five points, Malachi Rhodes poured in three, Nick Spears three and Jacob Foster two.
Avery edged the Longhorns in the JV boys’ contest 27-25 with Rem Clark putting up nine points for McLeod.
Lady Longhorns
McLeod led 9-4 after the first frame and never looked back as the Lady Longhorns (7-3) beat the Lady Bulldogs 29-10.
Madison Blair scored eight points and corralled five rebounds, Baleigh Terry added seven points, Gracey Vick had six points with four boards, Taylor Dees posted four points with three rebounds, Neely Hale scored two points and Rylee Parker added two points.
