McLeod at Avery
On Nov. 20, McLeod’s basketball program visited Avery.
In the boys’ game, the Longhorns rolled out to a 34-16 lead at the break and finished the contest with a 61-41 win.
Colton Spence went off for 19 points and nine boards, Kannon Dempsey added 14 points with nine rebounds, Grayson Owens had 10 points with five rebounds, Trey Gant posted eight points and Jase Deaton had eight assists.
In the JV game, McLeod toasted Avery 58-6 with Jacob Foster scoring 14 points and Brayden Bascombe 13.
In the girls’ game, the Lady Longhorns had a 20-5 halftime lead and won the game 30-14 as the last buzzer sounded.
Kenslee Cross netted 17 points with eight boards, Lila McKnight had six points with six rebounds and Madison Blair had four points with four steals.
In the JV game, McLeod topped Avery 16-10 with Neeley Hale scoring six points.
McLeod vs. Queen City
On Nov. 21, the Lady Longhorns and Lady Bulldogs battled on the hardwood.
The game was close throughout but in the end Queen City left McLeod with a 31-26 win.
The Lady ’Horns had a 7-5 lead after one frame but QC went on a 15-10 run in the second quarter which put them up 20-17.
Queen City outscored McLeod 11-9 in a tight contest to seal the game. Serenity Oden posted 10 points for the Lady Bulldogs, Mallori Stringer added seven, Lauren Carrell had four, Trinity Oden had four and Paitynn Weeks had four.
For the Lady Longhorns, Kenslee Cross had 13 points with seven boards, Lila McKnight added seven points with six rebounds, Madison Blair poured in three points and Jacqulyn Shepherd had three points.
McLeod vs. Waskom
On Nov. 21, the Longhorns ran their record to 5-0 after torching Waskom 6945.
McLeod only lost one quarter and that was a 16-15 second frame run by Waskom. Other than that, the Longhorns dominated the contest.
The Longhorns enjoyed a 26-21 halftime lead before outscoring the Wildcats 43-24 in the second half.
Kannon Dempsey posted a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds, Colton Spence poured in 16 points, Grayson Owens added 12, Trey Gant seven, Kason Cook five and Jase Deaton four.
McLeod JV vs. Bloomburg
The Longhorn JV team battled Bloomburg’s varsity boys’ team on Nov. 21, with McLeod’s JV team winning the bout 49-23.
Jacob Foster netted 14 points and Nick Spears added nine for the ’Horns. Wyatt Eaves scored nine points for Bloomburg.
