On Nov. 13, the junior high basketball program traveled to Harleton.

The seventh-grade boys won the game 22-11 with Damien Vick scoring 12 points and Bryce Lambeth chipping in four.

The eighth-grade boys thumped Harleton 36-15 with Dayton Smith pouring in 13 points and Rem Clark posting 12.

On Nov. 14, the Longhorns crushed county-rival Avinger 80-10. The game got out of hand quickly as the Longhorns took a 27-0 lead into the second frame and had a comfortable 50-5 lead at halftime.

A 30-5 run in the second half gave the ’Horns a 70-point victory.

Kannon Dempsey posted a double-double after he scorched the nets for 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, Grayson Owens added 13 points, Colten Spence recorded 12, Trey Gant eight, Jaxon Smith eight, Austin McGray seven, Kason Cook six and Jase Deaton four.

McLeod’s varsity boys’ basketball squad battled Laneville on Nov. 17. The contest was tight throughout, but the Longhorns put together a complete fourth quarter to win the game 45-38.

The two teams were tied coming out of the first frame, but Laneville held onto a 19-17 lead at the break.

McLeod (3-0) outscored the Yellow Jackets 12-11 in the third quarter to pull within a point. A 16-8 run in the fourth stanza put the game away for the ’Horns. Kannon Dempsey had a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, Colton Spence added 11 points with six boards, and both Jaxon Smith and Grayson Owens had six points with five rebounds.
