Atlanta
The Lady Rabbs entered day two of the Hallsville tourney on Dec. 28, already having won two games the day prior.
Up until the third game Atlanta had outscored its opponents 106-44.
On day two the Lady Rabbits beat the Tyler Heat, 39-22, with Kym Sheppard posting 12 points, Carlajah Adger eight, Alley Jefferson seven, Ma’Kaylin King six, Keynya Smith four and Destinee Webster two.
In its final game of the tourney the Lady Rabbs fell to Whitehouse, 56-36, with Kym Sheppard posting 16 points, Sabriiyah Young six, Ma’Kaylin King six, Alley Jefferson three, Carlajah Adger three and Destinee Webster two.
Atlanta went 3-1 in tournament play and Kym Sheppard received a medal for being picked to the All-Tournament team.
The Lady Rabbs made the short trip to Queen City Jan. 4, for a district matchup with its rivals.
In the end Atlanta wrapped up a 68-51 win with Kym Sheppard recording 20 points, Destinee Webster 14, Ma’Kaylin King 13, Alley Jefferson eight, Damiya Alexander six, Carlajah Adger five and Sabriiyah Young two.
In the JV game the Lady Rabbs edged QC, 25-23, with Aysia Heard posting nine points in the contest.
On Jan. 7, the Lady Rabbs ran its district record to 5-0 after a, 62-42, win over Hooks.
Alley Jefferson poured in a game-high 24 points, Kym Sheppard added 11, Destinee Webster 10, Ma’Kaylin King eight, Sabriiyah Young five and Carlajah Adger four.
Bloomburg
The Lady Wildcats improved to 2-0 in district play after topping Saltillo, 50-46.
Saltillo went up, 15-14, after the first quarter but a 17-12 run by Bloomburg put the Lady wildcats out in front, 31-27. The two teams evened out at 19-19 in the second

Cassie Glasgow had 18 points and six boards, Jacee Glasgow added 12 points with five steals and Haylee Breedlove poured in 13 points.
On Jan. 4, the Lady ’Cats thumped Avery, 63-18, which set Bloomburg at 3-0 in district play.
The contest was never close as Bloomburg surged ahead, 27-5, after quarter one, and was up, 42-7, at halftime.
Cassie Glasgow put up 23 points and six rebounds, Haylee Breedlove added 22 points with five boards, Jacee Glasgow had nine points, Kaleigh Glasgow three, Kenzie LaDuke two, Carley Castagnetta two and Katlen McKinnie two.
Queen City
The Lady Bulldogs battled Union Grove on Dec. 28. The game was close at the end with Union Grove just edging QC 43-39. Lauren Carrell led QC with 17 points.
On Jan. 4, Queen City’s girls’ basketball program hosted rival Atlanta.
In the varsity matchup Atlanta won the game by a score of, 68-51, with Lauren Carrell leading the Lady Bulldogs with 14 points. The JV bout was a good one with Atlanta winning

On Jan. 7, the Lady Bulldogs traveled to Omaha to play Paul Pewitt.
Queen City left town with a, 55-42, win in tow. Lauren Carrell scored 14 points, Jamecia Cook added 13 and Nyla Harrison scored 11 of her own.
M.U.M.S.
The Queen City Junior High battled New Boston last week.
The seventh grade A team came up short by a score of, 24-15, as Breanna McConnell scored six points and Lucy Kelton added five.
The seventh grade B team fell 7-3.
In the eighth grade contest New Boston edged the Lady Bulldogs, 36-33, with Kerian Tomas posting 16 points and Dori Sasser 14.
McLeod
On Dec. 30, the Lady Longhorns beat Detroit 48- 21. McLeod had a, 29-18, lead at halftime, and completely blew the doors off the hinges in the second half as they outscored Detroit 19-3.
Stormy Johnson had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds, Chassie Gryder added nine points and five steals, Rielyn Schubert posted nine points, Kenslee Cross had seven points and nine boards, Regan Johnson added seven points, five steals and five rebounds and Jaci Armstrong had six points and five boards.
The Longhorns finished the night with a solid, 40- 35, win over Detroit.
This game was close throughout as the teams finished quarter one knotted up at 9-all. The Eagles took a, 17-15, into the break but McLeod outscored Detroit 25-18 in the second half to seal the win.
Tyler Williams scored 11 points for McLeod, Kannon Dempsey 10, Mason Teer five, Braden Parker four, Preston Bishop four, Henry Teer three and Brennan Penny three.
McLeod opened up the New Year with a, 54-47, win over Harts Bluff on Jan. 7.
The Longhorns took a, 15-13, lead into the second quarter, but a 12-6 run by Harts Bluff in the second frame set McLeod back, 25-21, at the break.
A 33-22 run by the ’Horns in the second half sealed the victory.
Kannon Dempsey secured a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, Mason Teer added 13 points, Tyler Williams posted 10 points, Henry Teer had seven points with eight boards, Braden Parker had four points with seven assists, Brennan Penny put up four points and Preston Bishop added two.
In the JV game, McLeod won, 47-23, with Jade Deaton scoring 13 and Trenton McKnight 11.
The Lady Longhorns opened 2022 with a bang as they thumped Maud 59-14.
McLeod had a, 20-2, lead after the first quarter and posted a, 33-4, lead at halftime.
The Lady Longhorns finished with a 26-10 run to end the contest.
Chassie Gryder poured in 21 points which included four treys, Stormy Johnson added 14 points with eight steals, Kenslee Cross posted seven points with five boards, Regan Johnson had six points with five rebounds, Andrea Bertrand contributed five points, Sarah Ragland scored two points, Jaci Armstrong two and Rielyn Schubert one. Regan Mitchell contributed two steals of the Lady Longhorns’ 28 in the game.
On Jan. 7, the Lady Longhorns crushed Harts Bluff, 80-14, in a non-district contest.
McLeod was up, 19-6, after the first quarter of play but a 22-3 run in the second put the Lady ’Horns up, 41-9, at halftime.
A 39-5 drubbing in the second half capped off the 66-point win for the Lady Longhorns.
Kenslee Cross posted 16 points with seven rebounds, Chassie Gryder added 16 points and four steals, Ella Lambeth recorded 12 points, Stormy Johnson published nine points with eight rebounds, Rielyn Schubert had nine points, Jaci Armstrong six, Regan Johnson six, Regan Mitchell two, Sarah Ragland two and Andrea Bertrand two.
