Atlanta Rabbits
Atlanta’s varsity baseball team traveled to Hooks on Apr. 2, and extended its winning streak to five games after smacking the Hornets 10-0.
The Rabbs have won seven of their last eight games with the victory over Hooks.
Eli Stevens gave up just four hits and struck out four from the hill.
Peyton Harrison hit a triple, Peyton Gaston was 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI, Will Woodruff added a single, Easton Owens was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, Eli Mitchell added an RBI, Cason Whatley was 2-for-4 with two ribbies, Brady Partain hit a single and Chris Hale had two knocks with two ribeyes.
Atlanta extended its winning streak to six straight after topping Redwater 6-1 on Apr. 5.
The Dragons had a 1-0 lead for most of the game until the Rabbits scored six runs in one frame.
Eli Dryden gave up just one hit and struck out four, and teammate Will Woodruff gave up two hits and struck out five.
From the plate, Woodruff hit a double, Peyton Harrison hit a single, Peyton Gaston added an RBI, Eli Mitchell had two hits with an RBI, Evan Mitchell had a hit with two ribbies and Brady Partain hit an RBI single.
Lady Rabbits
Atlanta battled Hooks on Apr. 2, in another district match. The Lady Rabbs had a 3-0 lead going into the bottom half of the third inning where Hooks scored seven runs.
Hooks staved off a comeback attempt by the Lady Rabbits and won the game 7-6.
Gabby Arredondo scattered four hits and struck out four.
Tori Clayton was 3-for-4 with two RBIs, Arredondo was 2-for-3 with a double, Carlajah Adger was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, Anna Davis hit a single and Kinlee Hamilton added a single.
On Apr. 5, the Lady Rabbs edged Redwater 6-5 on a walk-off double off the bat of Tori Clayton.
The Lady Dragons had a slim 5-4 lead going into the final frame.
In that seventh inning stretch, Anna Davis hit a ground ball but made it to second base after and error.
With two outs Carlajah Adger was intentionally walked, and Clayton stepped in to the batter’s box.
Clayton ripped a solid hit to centerfield scoring both runs and ending the game with a walk-off double.
C layton recorded four RBIs in the contest, Adger was 3-for-3 with a solo homerun, Kalissa Reliford hit an RBI single and Anna Davis hit a single.
Gabby Arredondo scattered five hits with seven strikeouts.
Linden-Kildare Tigers L-K scored early and often en route to a 13-3 win over Harts Bluff in five innings on Apr. 2.
Maysen Lemmon pitched a masterful game from the mound as he gave up just one hit and struck out seven over four innings.
Peyton Foreman pitched an inning of relief and sat down a batter with no hits given up.
Logan Hankins hit two doubles and drove in three runs, Lemmon was 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs, Keegan Surratt hit an RBI single, Max Belford had to knocks, Foreman added an RBI, Ethan Churchman added a single and Tylton Surratt was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
On Apr. 5, the Tigers thumped Avery 14-1. Keifer Phillips scattered three hits and sat down four batters. Hugh Tyson pitched in relief and struck our four batters while giving up zero hits.
Keegan Surratt was 3-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI, Maysen Lemmon hit a double and drove in two runs, Max Belford was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, Logan Hankins added two knocks and an RBI, Peyton Foreman was 3-for-3 with two ribeyes, Phillips had a hit with two ribbies and both Tylton Surratt and Tyson added RBIs.
Lady Tigers
L-K’s varsity softball squad called game in the first inning of its matchup with Harts Bluff on Apr. 2, after a 15-run explosion.
The Lady Tigers were down 3-0 until they scored 15 runs in the first inning alone. L-K won the contest 20-8.
That 15-run, first frame opened up with two walks before Kaycee Neville smashed a 3-run homer to deep centerfield. Allie Watson followed that up with a triple and later scored on a wild pitch, and after two walks Lacy Johnson plated two runs on a hard-hit single.
With the score at 6-3, Johnson stole second, made it to third on a passed ball and scored after Sophia Hampton singled.
Kalissa Roberts doubled and Breleigh Conejo walked to load the bases for Neville. Neville swung on the first pitch and hit a screaming grand slam to center and advanced the score to 11-3.
Watson was hit by a pitch and later scored on an error by Harts Bluff. Hannah Wall reached base on an error, Olivia Stewart and Johnson both walk and later scored on an infield error after a solid hit by Hampton.
Ada Whatley and Callie Johnson both got in some work from the circle.
Neville was 4-for-4 with two home runs, a double and nine RBIs, Watson hit a triple, Roberts was 2-gor-3 with a double and an RBI, Stewart hit an RBI double, Johnson added a single with two ribbies, Hampton added a single and Brooklynne Dalrymple hit an RBI single.
On Apr. 5, the Lady Tigers won its third game in a row after defeating Maud 10-5.
Ada Whatley scattered eight hits and struck out six from the circle.
Hannah Wall hit two doubles, All-Jo Dixon hit an RBI double, Allie Watson hit an RBI double, Kalissa Roberts had a hit with two RBIs, Breleigh Conejo added an RBI, Olivia Stewart had a hit with two ribbies and Lacy Johnson had two knocks with three RBIs.
Queen City
The state-ranked Lady Bulldogs are positioned at No. 5 but have been playing like they are No. 1.
QC (17-2, 9-0) won its eighth game in a row on Apr. 5, after the Lady Bulldogs topped state-ranked Hooks 5-1.
The winning streak ties the largest margin since the Lady Bulldogs began the season on an 8-game winning streak. Queen City’s only two losses on the season were in tourney play against 5A and 6A schools.
Against the Lady Hornets, Trinity Oden gave up four hits over seven innings of work with 14 strikeouts.
Brenna Turbeville had a hit, Oden had two knocks with an RBI, Mallori Stringer hit two singles, Laurel Moore added a hit with two ribbies and both Lauren Carrell and Kelsey Nash posted singles.
