ATLANTA BASEBALL
Atlanta’s baseball team took part in the Texas High tourney on Feb. 27Mar. 1.
Game One
The Rabbs opened the tournament up with a 7-4 win over district foe Hooks. Evan Mitchell gave up three hits and struck out five and teammate Easton Owens gave up a hit and struck out three in relief. Brady Partain had a couple of knocks, Owens added a single, Peyton Harrison hit an RBI single and the Rabbits received RBI contributions from Peyton Gaston, Eli Mitchell, Chris Hale and Huntley Fisher.
Game Two
In the second match the Rabbs lost 4-3 ibn a close contest. Both Easton Patterson and Easton Whatley shared time on the hill. Peyton Harrison posted two hits and Easton Owens added a hit with two ribeyes.
Game Three
In the final game the Rabbits topped Longview 2-1 in a pitcher’s duel. Easton Patterson gave up just three hits and sat down seven batters. Cason Whatley hit a solo homerun to break a 1-1 tie, Eli Mitchell added an RBI, Peyton Gaston hit a single, Huntley Fisher hit a single and Chris Hale hit a single.
ATLANTA SOFTBALL
The Lady Rabbs’ softball team beat Daingerfield 9-5 on Feb. 25.
Gabby Arredondo gave up two hits and struck out eight over five innings and Lakeyn Wooten scattered five hits with two Ks in relief.
Carlajah Adger was solid from the dish as she fell just a triple shy of the cycle and had three RBIs, Sarah Blake added two hits and two ribbies, Keirsten Underwood hit a single, Anna Davis hit a double, Ella Garrett drove in two runs and hit both a double and a triple and Wooten hit a RBI single.
On Feb. 27-Mar. 1 the Lady Rabbits took part in the New Boston tourney and went 4-1. Senior slugger Carlajah Adger hit three homeruns, two in one game, sophomore Gabby Arredondo hit a homer and freshman Ella Garrett hit a homerun.
Game One
Coming into the tourney Atlanta was on a 5-game winning streak and opened the classic with a 9-0 blanking of Overton. Gabby Arredondo pitched a no-hitter and struck out three in the process.
From the dish, Arredondo was 2-for-3 with a homerun and two RBIs, Sarah Blake was 3-for-3 with three RBIs, Keirsten Underwood hit a single, Anna Davis added two hits with a double, Ella Garrett had an RBI, Gabby Petrofsky had a single with two ribbies and Lakeyn Wooten hit a single.
Game Two
In the second contest Atlanta fell to Gilmer 8-1. Ella Garrett hit a single from the plate, Anna Davis added a double and Brylee Fiscus hit a single.
Game Three
The Lady Rabbs bounced back from that loss to Gilmer and outscored its next three opponents 52-5 beginning with a 19-0 shellacking of Paris.
Lakeyn Wooten gave up just one hit over three innings and at down six. Anna Davis was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two ribeyes, Carlajah Adger and Sarah Blake hit singles, Tiahna Beltran had a hit with two ribbies, Ella Garrett added a hit with two RBIs, Gabby Petrofsky posted two hits with a double and three RBIs, Gabby Arredondo hit a 2-RBI double and both Wooten and Alannah Bishop had RBIs.
Game Four
In the fourth game Atlanta beat county foe McLeod 18-5 with Gabby Arredondo scattering seven hits with four Ks. Carlajah Adger hit two homeruns, a double and had five RBIs, Sarah Blake, Aleesha Parkman and Brylee Fiscus hit singles, Anna Davis had a hit with two ribbies, Ella Garrett added an RBI, Gabby Petrofsky posted a single with two RBIs, Arredondo hit an RBI double and Lakeyn Wooten hit a double and drove in three runs.
Game Five
In the final game of the tourney Atlanta beat county foe Linden-Kildare 15-0. Carlajah Adger hit a 2-run homerun, Aleesha Parkman hit a single, Brylee Fiscus hit a single, Anna Davis had two hits with a triple, Ella Garrett had two hits with a double, a homerun and four RBIs, Gabby Petrofsky had an RBI and Lakeyn Wooten had two hits with an RBI.
For the Lady Tigers, Olivia Stewart hit a double and both Kalysa Roberts and Jacee Quaid hit singles.
LINDEN-KILDARE SOFTBALL On Feb. 27 the Lady Tigers dispatched Paris 16-0 as Callie Johnson sat down eight batters and gave up just four hits.
Kalysa Roberts had three hits with a double, Zaliyah Mitchell hit a triple and had three RBIs, Ja’maiya Mack added two hits with a ribbie, Allie Jo Dixon had two hits with a double and two RBIs, Olivia Stewart added an RBI, Ada Whatley and Autumn Montoya hit singles, Jacee Quaid had two hits with a double and Lynlee LeJeune hit an RBI single. On Feb. 28 the Lady Tigers topped Mt. Pleasant Chapel Hill 6-1 as Ada Whatley struck out five batters and gave up just two hits. Kalysa Roberts hit a single, Zaliyah Mitchell added an RBI double, Ja’maiya Mack hit a triple, Allie Jo Dixon added an inside the park homerun and two ribbies and Lynlee LeJeune hit a double.
QUEEN CITY BASEBALL
Queen City topped Jefferson 9-5 in a Bulldogs’ matchup on Feb. 24. The game was a thriller that included a solid comeback by the orange and black Bulldogs.
Jefferson enjoyed a 3-0 lead after one inning of play and had a 5-2 lead going into the bottom of the fourth frame, but QC added three runs over the next couple of innings to tie the game at 5-all.
Jefferson never scored again in the contest while QC plated four runs in the sixth and nailed the door shut in the seventh for the victory.
In that sixth stanza, both Brayden Wiley and Mason Satterfield earned free passes to the bag by way of a hit batter.
Brady Majors hit a single scoring Wiley and Christian Brown doubled in Satterfield. Gunner Loftin cleared the bases with a solid single to center and QC was up 9-5.
Satterfield scattered four hits over three innings with two strikeouts and Loftin gave up three hits over four innings with eight strikeouts. From the dish Cullen Duhon had two hits with a double and an RBI, Derell Sewell added a single, Satterfield had a double and plated two runs, Cayden Dawson hit a single, Christian Brown hit an RBI double, Majors hit an RBI single and Loftin hit a 2-RBI single.
On Feb. 27-Mar. 1 the Bulldogs took part in the New Boston tourney.
Game One
In the first game the Bulldogs beat McLeod 6-1. Noah Young and Christian Brown combined for four Ks and no earned runs. Cullen Duhon hit a triple, Brayden Wiley hit a double, Young and Derell Sewell hit singles, Brown and Cayden Dawson added RBIs and Gunner Loftin was 2-for-2 with an RBI.
Game Two
In the second contest QC beat James Bowie 10-4 with Brayden Wiley scattering four hits over five innings with five strikeouts. Gunner Loftin was 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, Mason Satterfield hit a single, Brady Majors brought in two runs, Case Wiley brought in a run and Christian Brown had two hits with two ribbies.
Game Three
In the final game of the tourney the Bulldogs lost a close game to Maud by a score of 3-2. Mason Satterfield gave up three hits and had six strikeouts and Case Wiley pitched an inning of relief. Cayden Dawson had a hit and Gunner Loftin had an RBI.
