Atlanta Rabbits

Atlanta’s baseball team bowed out of the State playoffs last week after falling to Harmony two games to one in a 3-game series.

The Rabbs started out the season 0-5 and had a 4-8 record going into district play. Atlanta lost its first two games of district play before reeling off 11 consecutive wins to take the district crown.

The winning streak continued into the Bi-District round as Atlanta swept Mineola in two games, and one game into the Area round as the Rabbits took down Elysian Fields in game one.

Elysian Fields won game two but Atlanta took the series after winning game three.

Playing Harmony was intense as the two teams have a playoff history against one another.

Game One

In game one of the Regional Quarterfinal round the Eagles won the match 8-2.

Evan Mitchell hit a single and drove in two runs, Peyton Harrison added a single, Easton Owens hit a single and Eli Mitchell hit a single.

Game Two

In the second contest of the serries Atlanta won 8-0 behind a fine pitching performance by Will Woodruff.

Woodruff gave up just four hits over six innings with six strikeouts and Eli Dryden gave up a hit and sat down a batter in one inning of relief.

Atlanta’s bats were on fire as they accrued 10 hits in the game. Easton Owens hit two triples and drove in a run, Cason Whatley was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, Jayden Riley was 3-for-4 with a double and a ribbie, Peyton Harrison added a single, Peyton Gaston hit an RBI single and Eli Mitchell drove in a run.

Game Three

Another amazing run by the Rabbit baseball program ended earlier than wanted after Harmony won the deciding game 4-1.

Peyton Harrison was 3-for-4 from the dish with a triple, Will Woodruff hit a single and Easton Owens added a single.

Queen City

Queen City’s softball squad has been on a roll since winning District.

Queen City’s softball team turned in some of the best performances in school history the past three seasons.

In the 2022 season, QC went 11-1 in district play and traveled three rounds deep in the playoffs.

During the 2023 season, the Lady Bulldogs went 11-1 in district play and went four rounds deep in the playoffs where they met up with Whitesboro.

They lost both games by one run to the Lady Bearcats. This season, the Lady Bulldogs were 12-0 in district play and went four rounds deep in the playoffs where they met up with Whitesboro once again.

Going into the clash the Lady Bulldogs were on a 17-game win streak and both games were close.

Unfortunately, the Lady Bearcats won both games and ended another solid run by QC’s softball program.

Game One

In the first contest a pitcher’s duel was in effect. Trinty Oden has been lights out from the circle all year as she racked up 303 strikeouts.

Oden gave up just three hits and sat down five but Whitesboro won the game 3-0. Laurel Moore had both of Queen City’s hits in the game.

Game Two

This game was a heartbreaker game for the Lady Bulldogs as they fell to Whitesboro 3-2 in a hard-fought contest.

The Lady Bearcats scored the only run for a few innings before going up 3-0 going into the top of the sixth frame.

QC plated two runs in the sixth to pull within a run but couldn’t add to that total to tie or win the game.

Trinity Oden struck out six batters from the circle, Serenity Oden hit a single from the dish and Laurel Moore added two singles.
