Atlanta seventh, eighth grade teams stomp Gladewater
Seventh Grade
In the first quarter quarterback Jayden Riley got the Rabbs started early with a nice 35-yard run down inside the Gladewater 10-yard line. Two plays later Kayden Linwood took it in for the score. Riley added the 2-point play to make it 8-0.
The defense made a key stop to give the ball back to the offense with good field position.
In the second quarter Riley took the snap and outran everybody to the endzone for a 56-yard score.
The 2-point try fails but the Rabbs were up 14-0.
Just before the half the Rabbit defense made a big stop to give the offense the ball in Bear territory. Riley made an amazing effort and broke several tackles but would be tackled just short of the goal line as time expired.
The Rabbs would receive the opening kickoff of the third quarter and go to work again.
Linwood, as well as Marshawn Woodberry, put together some nice runs to set up a 15-yard scramble for a touchdown from Riley.
Woodberry added the 2-points to make it 22-0.
On the ensuing kickoff Tylton Surratt recovered an onside kick from Riley to set the offense up once again.
The Rabbs put together a nice drive starting with a 15-yard completion from Riley to Woodberry. The drive would be capped off with a 7-yard scamper from Woodberry early in the fourth quarter.
This brought an end to the scoring for the night as the Rabbs went on to win 28-0.
Riley finished the day with 11 carries for 221 yards and two touchdowns.
Gladewater runs a ball-control offense and the defense did a great job getting them off the field all game.
Some other standouts include Remington Clayton, Toddy Webster, and Irieon Reynolds. The Rabbs move to 5-0 on the season.
Eighth Grade
Gladewater took the opening possession and drove the ball down the field to take an early 8-0 lead.
The Rabbs’ offense would turn it over on their opening drive but Gladewater was unable to capitalize. Early in the second quarter the Rabbs finally got it going after some nice plays from Asher Wells and Markeylin Batton, Jamarion Austin capped off the drive with a 17-yard run for a touchdown.
The 2-point was no good but the Rabbs were on the board and down just 8-6.
After another defensive stand, Austin would answer quickly with a nice 52-yard touchdown run.
Braylen Rowe caught the 2-point try to give the Rabbs a 14-8 lead at the half.
In the third quarter, on the opening drive Owens would find Batton for a nice 27-yard gain, but the drive stalled on the next play after a fumble.
After yet another defensive stop, the Rabbs extended its lead after a big run from Wells set up a 31-yard scamper from Austin for his third TD of the game.
At this point Atlanta is up 22-8.
Early in the fourth Batton would get loose on a 48-yard jaunt to make the score 26-8.
Gladewater added a score late in the game to bring the final score to 26-14.
Standouts included Kheaton Kinney and Brandon Edwards.
In the B team game, the Rabbs fell 20-10. Cason Whatley had a 35-yard completion to Brady Partain and JJ Williams added a 45-yard score.
