Atlanta Rabbits beat White Oak, 32-15

Atlanta traveled to White Oak last Friday night for another district matchup. The Rabbs scored first and never looked back as Atlanta rolled over White Oak 32-15.

First Quarter

White Oak received the ball to begin the game but a solid stand by Atlanta’s defense put the Roughnecks into punt formation after a quick three-and-out.

Atlanta’s offense sputtered on its first drive of the game and the Rabbs ended up punting the ball back to White Oak.

Nice tackles by Brenden Clayton, Christian Banks and Markeylin Batton kept White Oak’s offense on its heels and the Roughnecks ended up punting again after just six plays.

After a 15-yard punt return by Jayden Riley the Rabbs were set up nicely at the 48-yard line.

Jamarion Austin picked up 21 yards rushing on the drive, Batton picked up a few yards on the ground and Russell Limbrick picked up a large chunk of yardage which included a 2-yard touchdown.

The extra point was no good but Atlanta was up 6-0 with 2:37 remaining in the first quarter.

Atlanta’s defense turned in another stellar outing on the next drive and White Oak had to punt the ball away once again.

Working from the 25, Austin picked up five yards as time expired on the first frame.

Second Quarter

Atlanta QB Peyton Harrison picked up a few yards on the quarterback keeper to open the new quarter, and then it was a steady dose of handoffs to speedy running backs.

Batton, Limbrick, Isaiah Chandler, Harrison, and Austin took turns picking apart the White Oak defense and a nice pass from Harrison to Marquavion Owens for 13 yards helped as well.

The 14-play drive ended with Limbrick barreling his way back into the endzone for his second score of the night.

The 2-point try failed but Atlanta increased its lead to 12-0 with 5:08 left in the first half.

Both teams traded possessions for the rest of the quarter.

Third Quarter

White Oak opened the second half with a score and cut the Rabbs’ lead to 12-7, but after a solid 50yard kickoff return by Chandler the Rabbs were back on the board as Harrison hit Stacy Darty for a 25yard TD.

The 2-point play failed but Atlanta widened its lead to 18-7 with 9:42 left in the third stanza.

After another White Oak punt, Atlanta took over with good field position at the White Oak 39.

Runs by Batton and Darty plus a 15-yard penalty on White Oak moved the ball to the 15.

From there Harrison hit Darty for a 15-yard score at the 6:45 mark. The XP was good and Atlanta was up 25-7.

White Oak answered with a score and a 2-point conversion which cut the lead to 25-15 with 18 seconds left in the third quarter.

Fourth Quarter Atlanta opened the final quarter punting the ball away but a missed field goal by the Roughnecks gave the Rabbs the ball back.

Runs by Darty, Batton and Limbrick moved the ball well for Atlanta and the drive ended after 12 plays as Harrison connected with Darty once again, this time on a 26-yard strike.

The PAT was good and Atlanta was up 32-15 with 40 seconds left in the game.

Harrison intercepted a pass on White Oak’s next drive and kneeled the ball to end the game.

Atlanta controlled the game as the Rabbs ran 71 plays to White Oak’s 54, and gained 22 first downs to White Oak’s 11.

Harrison passed for 112 yards with three touchdowns, Batton rushed for 59 yards, Limbrick rushed for 47 with two scores, Austin rushed for 42 and Darty added 79 receiving yards with three TDs.

Defensively, Carmello Henderson had 10 tackles, Owens eight, Banks six and Dim Limbrick five.

Ja’marion Owens and Clayton each had one sack and Harrison had one interception.

The Rabbs travel to Gladewater this Friday night to take on the Bears. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
