Atlanta Middle School Rabbs battle Tatum

Atlanta 14 Tatum 0 7B - Jaymen Dickerson scored on a 35-yard run and Graham Giesler completed a 7-yard pass to Taton King as time expired for the Rabbs. Franklin Hansen was a major defensive standout in the Rabbs’ 14-0 shutout of the Eagles.

Atlanta 36 Tatum 6 8B - Cordemion Roquemore scored on a 40-yard run and caught a 40-yard pass from Cole Hanner. Hanner also scored on a 22-yard run and had an interception on defense. Alex Bishop scored on an 18-yard run. Michael Kassens had a 40-yard dash for another score. Richard Trinh got a fumble recovery on defense in Atlanta’s 36-6 win over Tatum. Atlanta B remains undefeated on the season.

Atlanta 20 Tatum 22 7A - First Quarter - The Rabbs’ defense forced a fumble on the opening drive, recovered by Zay Smith, but the offense was forced to punt. Tatum put together a nice drive.

Second Quarter - Tatum finished their drive with a big run to take the lead and go up 8-0 after the 2-point try. On the ensuing Rabbit drive, the offense finally got it going led by big runs from Smith.

The Rabbs capped the drive with a 9-yard pass from Cruz Crosby to Jayden Moore to cut the lead to 8-6. Tatum answered on their ensuing drive, with a long drive to extend the lead to 14-6. Janson Wylie intercepted the 2-point try.

Atlanta got the ball back with less than a minute in the half and put together a great drive. Crosby found Moore once again, this time on a 30-yard pass play Moore made a diving catch as time expired. Marquez Anderson caught a 2-point pass to tie the game at 14-all.

Third Quarter - Atlanta’s opening drive stalled after Tatum intercepted a tipped pass on fourth down. Tatum put together a time-consuming drive to take the lead into the fourth quarter 22-14.

Fourth Quarter - The Rabbs answered with another long drive as Smith scored from five yards out but the 2-point pass fell incomplete to set the score at 22-20 with less than a minute remaining.

Atlanta executed a perfect onside kick from Crosby which was recovered by J’kyron Anderson. The Atlanta offense moved the ball deep into Tatum territory but ran out of time.

The Rabbit seventh grade A team falls to 5-2 on the year, after a heartbreaking loss.

Atlanta 44 Tatum 8 8A - First Half - Tatum played keep away most of the first half. They scored on their opening drive to go up 8-0. The Rabbs answered immediately.

Brayden Thompson found Gaven Bumphus on the quick screen for a 67-yard catch and run to cut the lead to 8-6. Tatum kept the ball the rest of the first half.

Third Quarter - The second half proved to be a different story. An angry Atlanta team wasted no time.

The ground attack got going behind Kelvin Roberson and Kaiden Howell with the offensive line dominating. The drive was capped on a 6-yard run by Roberson. Thompson completed the 2-point pass to Roberson to put Atlanta up 14-8.

On the ensuing kickoff, Aiden Shields recovered the onside kick attempt from Riley Sutton. On the next play, Thompson rolled right and found Howell across the field for a 50-yard touchdown completion. Thompson completed the 2-point to Bumphus and Atlanta increased its lead to 22-8. On the next Tatum drive, Mekai Martin stopped the toss pass attempt with a big sack on fourth down.

Fourth Quarter - Atlanta put together another big drive, capped with a 16-yard run from Howell, who broke multiple tackles. Thompson ran in the 2-point to extend the lead to 30-8.

On the next Eagles’ drive, Martin forced a fumble into the hands of the speedy Gabriel Garcia who took it 56 yards for a touchdown. The lead was set at 36-8.

The ensuing kickoff was high, fell right in front of the Tatum returner and was recovered by a diving Alex Bishop. The Rabbs scored easily again, this time Martin skirted in from six yards out. Cole Hanner completed the 2-point pass to Riley Sutton to make it 44-8.

Atlanta forced another fumble on the ensuing kickoff and the clock ran out. Atlanta’s eighth grade team moved to 7-0 on the season.

The Rabbits are back in action this Thursday night at Rabbit Stadium in the season finale versus the Gladewater Bears. The B game starts at 4 p.m.
