Atlanta Middle School Rabbs battle Jefferson

Atlanta 24 Jefferson 0 Cordemion Roquemore scored on a 70-yard run, Cole Hanner added another 70-yard dash, Alex Bishop burst through the middle for a 70-yard run, and Jaymen Dickerson dashed for a 45-yard score as the Rabbits topped Jefferson 24-0.

Atlanta 26 Jefferson 48 First Quarter - On the opening play of the game, Cruz Crosby completed a 68-yard bomb to Zay Smith to put the Rabbs inside the 10-yard line. A couple of plays later, Crosby ran it in to make it 6-0. Jefferson answered quickly with a huge run to tie the game 6-6.
The Rabbs were stopped on fourth down on its next drive and Jefferson took the lead 14-6 after another big run.
Second Quarter - Atlanta put together another long drive but fumbled the ball inside the 10-yard line. Jefferson scored quickly after the miscue to go up 22-6.
Jefferson recovered the onside kick but Jordan Crenshaw intercepted a Bulldog pass a couple of plays later.
The Rabbs turned it over again, this time by way of a pick-six to extend Jefferson’s lead to 28-6 at the half.
Third Quarter - Jayden Moore intercepted a Bulldog pass to open the third quarter. The Rabbs moved the ball after a big completion on fourth down from Crosby to Marquez Anderson inside the five.
Crosby ran it in two plays later to set the score at 28-12. Jefferson extended its lead again a couple plays later and was up 34-12.
The Bulldogs recovered another fumbled kickoff by the Rabbs, and capitalized a couple plays later on a big run to go up 40-12.
Fourth Quarter - On the ensuing drive, Crosby completed another deep pass to Smith, but fumbling proved to be a common theme, as the Rabbs turned it over again.
Jefferson capitalized on another big score to increase the lead to 48-12.
Atlanta kept fighting and added a score on a Smith 52-yard run and a reverse pass from J’kyron Anderson to Moore to bring the final score to 48-26. The seventh grade Rabbs fall to 3-1 on the season.

Atlanta 36 Jefferson 0 First Quarter - The Rabbits put together a methodical drive, with a big completion from Brayden Thompson to Aiden Shields inside the Jefferson 10yard line.
A couple of plays later Kelvin Roberson banged into the endzone and after Mekai Martin added the 2-point run the Rabbs were up 8-0.
The Atlanta defense stopped Jefferson for a threeand- out and Atlanta scored quickly on a 2-yard run from Roberson. He also added the 2-point run to put the Rabbs ahead 16-0.
Second Quarter - After another stellar defensive stand, the Rabbs were set up with great field position again.
Atlanta hit paydirt when Thompson found Gaven Bumphus on a 16-yard strike to extend the lead. Thompson added a 2-point run to make the score 24-0.
Martin recovered the onside kick by Riley Sutton and once again the Rabbits were in Bulldog territory.
After two completions to Bumphus, the Rabbs set up at the 11-yard line. KD Howell took the reverse and found a wide-open Thompson who waltzed into the endzone to extend the lead to 30-0.
Second Half - The clock ran for the entirety of the second half.
On the Rabbs’ lone drive of the third quarter, Bumphus scored on a 52-yard jet sweep around the right edge to set the score at 36-0.
Atlanta’s 8A team moved to 4-0 on the season. Atlanta Middle School football will be back in action this Thursday night at Sabine.
The B team scheduled kickoff is at 4 p.m. followed by 7A and 8A.
