Atlanta Middle School basketball begins season against DeKalb

Atlanta Middle School’s boys’ basketball program kicked off its season on Nov. 14 against DeKalb at home.

Seventh grade Rabbs roll

Teamwork was on full display as the Rabbits beat the Bears 40-22. Jordan Henderson led all scorers with 10 points. Jaylen Henderson added eight, Noah Sheffield eight, Hayes Highland eight, and Deondre Simmons netted six. David Mendez had eight for the Bears.

Eighth grade Rabbs lose heartbreaker

With Easton Patterson’s 13 points and a solid Rabbit effort, Atlanta fell just short as the Bears edged out the Rabbits 43-41. Kam Williams and Kaigen Lloyd added seven points each. Other scorers for the Rabbs included: Dailen Collins six, Jaylen Finley three, Landon Thomas three, and Kenzie Wiggins two. Matthew Weston of DeKalb led all scorers with 24.

Combined B team puts up big numbers

Fifteen different Rabbits scored in the combined seventh and eighth grade B game opener. The home team showed great sportsmanship, passing the ball around a minimum of five times before attempting a shot in the second half, culminating in a 38-2 victory. Najeh Watson, AJ Falls, Aiden Eason and Jay Smith all scored four points for the Rabbs.

The Rabbits will be back in action at Red Lick on Monday, Nov. 28, with four games (7B, 8B, 7A and 8A) beginning at 4:30 p.m.
