Atlanta girls’ JV track team wins relays, varsity places third
Atlanta’s girls’ track program competed in the Atlanta Lions Club/Gordon Pynes/Runnin’ Rabbs Relays Mar. 13.
The varsity girls’ competition was tightly contested throughout the day.
When all was finished only a half-point separated first and second place.
Liberty-Eylau has won this meet 10 times and had won the past four before COVID cancelled out 2020.
This past weekend L-E won by just a hair with 154 points. Daingerfield ended with 153.5 points, Atlanta was third with 143.5 and Redwater had 137.
Varsity
In the 100m dash Tianna Lawson placed third at 13.26; in the 200m dash Jennifer Easter placed second at 27.79 and Savore Chism sixth at 29.61 and in the 400m dash Kaylon Partain placed third at 1:06.50 and Lauren Booth placed sixth at 1:08.62.
In the 800m run Partain, Rylie Patillo and AnneMarie Hanner placed 3-4-5 with times of 2:39.41, 2:53.48 and 2:53.60 respectively; in the 1600m run Keri Fomby placed second at 6:15.15, Aurelia Gielser placed fourth at 6:38.27 and Kendall Fant placed fifth at 6:45.88 and in the 3200m run Fomby, Giesler and Fant placed 2-3-4 with times of 14.00.47, 14:44.24 and 15:07.77 repctively.
The 4x100m relay team of McKenzie Martin, Kym Sheppard, Lawson and Easter placed third at 51.97; the 4x200m relay team of the same lineup placed third at 1:49.57 and the 4x400m relay team of Partain, Makayla Martin, McKenzie Martin and Booth placed third at 4:34.84.
In long jump Easter placed second at 16 feet, 6 1/2 inches and Sheppard fifth at 15 feet, 1 inch; in triple jump Sheppard and Partain placed 4-5 with leaps of 31 feet even and 30 feet, 9 inches; in the high jump Lawson placed second at 5 feet even and Caitlynn Bailey placed fifth at 4 feet, 8 inches and in shot put Quen Cook placed first at 36 feet, 8 1/2 inches and T’Nijah Jackson placed third at 27 feet, 11 1/2 inches.
JV
The Atlanta junior varsity girls wrapped up first place Mar. 11, with 126 points.
Terrell was second with 117, L-E had 100, Prairiland 94, Maud 44, Bloomburg 25, McLeod 20 and Leverett’s Chapel 19.
In the 100m dash JaMyia Montgomery placed second at 13.79 and McKenzie Martin placed fifth at 13.97; in the 200m dash Martin placed third at 28.83; in the 400m dash Makayla Martin placed third at 1:09.05 and Makaylin King placed fourth at 1:10.34; in the 800m run Anne Marie Hanner placed second at 2:55.56 and in the 1600m run Kasidy Point placed third at 7:25.28.
The 4x100 relay team of Martin, Martin, Montgomery and Kaylon Partain placed third at 54.35; the 4x200m relay team of Lakyn Bush, Amaya Williams, Montgomery and Partain placed third at 1:58.54 and the 4x400m relay team of Bailey, King, Bush and Makayla Martin placed first at 4:42.47.
In the long jump Kym Sheppard placed fifth at 14 feet, 1 inch; in triple jump Partain placed second at 32 feet, 2 inches and Sheppard third at 29 feet, 11 inches; in high jump Montgomery placed first at 4 feet, 8 inches and Bailey placed third at 4 feet, 6 inches and in shot put Keymya Smith placed first with a mark of 29 feet, 8 inches.
