Atlanta Fishing Team competes at Lake O’ the Pines
Carson Dillinger and Justin Pierce led the way for the Atlanta High School Fishing Team at Lake O’ the Pines on Oct. 16.
Dillinger and Pierce paced the field of 130 boats to take first place with five fish for 15.5 pounds.
The winning bag was caught on a variety of baits from fish that were staged on points and rip/rap.
Under the leadership of Travis Addington the Atlanta High School Fishing Team has grown to have six boats entered in each of the first two tournaments of the year on the Texas High School Bass Association Trail.
Max Addington landed a 4.35-pound bass to move his boat into 44th place for the day. Max caught his fish on a moving bait midmorning. He ran through some short fish, but was not able to land any more keepers to weigh in.
Easton Owens and Cason Whatley earned the 78th spot in the tournament with a weight of 1.77 pounds. This team worked hard sorting through several small fish to find this one to bring to the scales.
As a team the Atlanta Anglers finished in sixth place out of 23 teams.
After two tournaments, the Angler of the Year standings include Dillinger and Pierce sitting in third place, Owens and Whatley in 61st place, Maximus Addington and Kaitlyn Dastous are in 66th place, Carson Sullivan and William Heath are in 93rd place, Eli Dryden and Easton Whatley are in 116th place, and Landon Griekspoor and Landon Terry are in 121st place.
The Atlanta High School Fishing Team fished Lake Fork on Nov. 13, for the third stop on the THSBA trail.
