Atlanta falls to Tatum
The Atlanta Rabbits hosted the Tatum Eagles last Thursday night.
Both teams came out of their corners and the slugfest was on as the two schools amassed 62 points.
Tatum scored on its first drive of the game and went up 7-0 after the PAT.
Atlanta running back Kam Dickerson and quarterback Peyton Harrison hit the ground running, and Harrison hit Stacy Darty on a nice hitch route for 30 yards, but a penalty eventually killed the drive.
The Rabbit defense, led by Christian Banks and Ja’ Marion Owens, forced Tatum to punt on its next set of plays, and a block put the Rabbs in solid position at the 5-yard line.
Tatum’s defense tested the Rabbs and eventually forced a fourth down situation from the 4-yard line.
Harrison snuck his way into the endzone by leaping over a defender for a score. The point after was good and the game was tied with 1:33 left in the first quarter.
In the second frame the fireworks from both teams started. The Eagles scored with 9:37 left in the first half and took a 14-7 lead after the PAT.
It took one play for Harrison to connect with Darty on an 81-yard TD pass play. The XP was no good and the score was set at 14-13.
Tatum scored on its next drive and made the score 21-13 after the PAT with 7:00 remaining in the second quarter.
Harrison hit Darty again for a TD on the first snap for the Rabbs, this time for a 71-yard score.
The 2-point play was good and the score was tied at 21-21. Tatum scored again on its next drive and went up 28-21 after the PAT. Not to be outdone, Darty returned the kickoff 90 yards for a score to pull the Rabbs within one point.
A missed XP would keep the score at 28-27 with 4:00 left in the half. Tatum scored again before the half ended and had a 35-27 lead at the break.
The second half was a different story for the Rabbs as Tatum outscored Atlanta 28-0 and won the game 63-27.
