Atlanta dominates own relays, girls dethrone L-E

Atlanta swept the Atlanta Lions Club/Gordon Pynes/Runnin’ Rabbs Relays on Mar. 10.

The boys won for the 18th time in 27 years which includes the past five meets.

Atlanta’s girls’ squad hadn’t won this meet since 2007 and turned in an epic performance as they dethroned Liberty-Eylau.

L-E had won the past six meets coming in and nine of the last 12, but the Lady Rabbs gave it all they had and stopped the Lady Leopards’ winning streak.

The JV boys left no doubt as they crushed the competition.

Varsity Boys

The varsity boys literally ran away from the competition as they racked up 249 points.

Daingerfield was second with 107, Redwater third with 105, L-E fourth with 53, New Boston fifth with 43 and McLeod sixth with 28.

In the 100m dash Markeylin Batton, Ahmani Jackson and Zakyus Jackson placed 1-2-3 with finishes of 11.21, 11.22 and 11.73 respectively, in the 200m dash Ahmani placed first at 22.67, Batton second at 22.96 and Zakyus fourth at 23.80, in the 400m dash Antonio Williams placed first at 53.74, Eli Riojas placed third at 55.26 and Jaquan Robinson placed fifth at 55.67, in the 110m hurdles Stacy Darty placed third at 16.95 and Markavion Owens placed sixth at 18.37 and in the 300m hurdles Darty placed first at 41.66 and Owens third at 44.60.

In the 800m run Matthew Morin, Riojas and Chris Swanson placed 1-2-3 with times of 2:07.48, 2:14,16 and 2:18.31 respectively, in the 1600m run Morin placed first at 5:07.52, Andrew Allen fifth at 5:24.12 and Swanson sixth at 5:24.60 and in the 3200m run Morin placed first at 11:03.85, Swanson third at 11:55.36 and Will Davis sixth at 12:21.06.

Atlanta swept the relay as the 4x100m relay team of JaBranden Wells, Batton, Ahmani Jackson and Isaiah Chandler placed first at 42.58, the 4x200m relay team of Wells, Zakyus Jackson, Matthew Cauley and Chandler placed first at 1:29.50 and the 4x400m relay team of Wells, Chandler, Cauley and Robinson placed first at 3:36.83.

In shot Caden Walker placed fourth at 37 feet, 9 1/4 inches and DK Parker sixth at 35 feet, 9 inches, in discus Jack Plunk placed fifth at 95 feet, 9 1/2 inches, in triple jump Darty placed second at 40 feet, 11 1/2 inches, Owens third at 39 feet, 11 inches and Caleb King placed sixth at 39 feet, 8 inches, in high jump Shayden Williams placed second at 6 feet and in pole vault Adrian Kennington placed first at 9 feet, 6 inches and Swanson placed second at the same mark.

Varsity Girls

The Lady Rabbs put up 154 points en route to a title for the first time since 2007.

L-E was second with 141.5 points, Daingerfield followed with 120, Redwater had 93, New Boston 67, McLeod 12.5 and Bloomburg eight.

In the 100m dash Caitlynn Bailey placed sixth at 13.74, in the 200m dash Carlajah Adger placed fourth at 28.75, in the 400m dash MaKayla martin placed first at 1:05.68, MaKaylin King placed third at 1:08.77 and Jaliyah Brown placed sixth at 1:10.72, in the 100m hurdles Elliana Edwards placed sixth at 19.58 and in the 300m hurdles Edwards placed fifth at 56.12.

In the 800m run Kaylon Partain placed second at 2:36.79, AnnMarie Hanner placed fourth at 2:47.23 and Amelia Jones placed fifth at 2:48.02, in the 1600m run Aurelia Giesler placed first at 6:13.63, Emma Allen placed third at 6:29.82 and Jones placed fourth at 6:36.49 and in the 3200m run Giesler placed first at 13:19.76 and Allen third at 14:27.66.

The 4x100m relay team of Toya Hurd, Adger, King and Zariah Johnson placed third at 51.52, the 4x200m relay team of Hurd, Johnson, Adger and Destinee Webster placed fourth at 1:51.89 and the 4x400m relay team of Aysia Heard, Hurd, Martin and Partain placed first at 4:24.15.

In the long jump Hurd placed fourth at 15 feet, 11 inches and Kym Sheppard placed fifth at 15 feet, 10 inches, in the high jump Bailey placed second at 5 feet even, in triple jump Adger placed third at 33 feet, 9 inches, Sheppard fifth at 32 feet, 9 inches and Webster sixth at 32 feet, 8 inches, in shot KeyMya Smith placed third at 33 feet, 11 1/2 inches, in discus Chanya Clark placed sixth at 65 feet, 5 inches and in pole vault Skye Hooten placed first at 5 feet, 6 inches.

JV Boys

The JV boys destroyed the field as they accumulated 242 points.

Daingerfield followed with 91, McLeod had 90, Redwater 75, L-E 58 and New Boston 10.

In the 100m dash La’Randion Dowden placed second at 11.53, Xavier Nash placed third at 12.07 and Jaymarian Austen placed fifth at 12.31, in the 200m dash Dowden placed first at 23.84, Cooper Swanson second at 24.27 and Hudson Hale third at 24.86, in the 400m dash Chase Kindred placed third at 56.53 and Allen Leach placed fifth at 58.12, in the 110m hurdles Marquayvious Richardson placed first at 17.58, Kaleb Fransisco placed third at 19.77 and Dekarvea Range placed fourth at 19.87 and in the 300m hurdles Dimoree Limbrick placed first at 46.13 and Richardson second at 46.81.

In the 800m run Will Davis placed second at 2:16.67 and Leach placed fourth at 2:21.22, in the 1600m run Davis placed first at 5:37.70, Ethan Scott third at 5:48.53 and Owen Flint sixth at 6:04.28 and in the 3200m run Scott placed second at 13:31.04 and Flint placed third at 13:47.95.

The 4x100m relay team of Dowden, Swanson, Austen and Nash placed first at 45.55, the 4x200m relay team of Carmello Henderson, Hale, Swanson and Nash placed first at 1:36.63 and the 4x400m relay team of Hale, Kindred, Leach and Henderson placed second at 3:52.11.

In the long jump Austen placed third at 16 feet, 7 inches, in the high jump Limbrick placed first at 5 feet, 8 inches, Prayduz Thomas placed third at 5 feet, 4 inches and Bralyn Rowe placed sixth at 5 feet, 2 inches, in the triple jump Limbrick placed first at 36 feet, 11 inches, in shot Kheaton Kinney placed second at 33 feet, 4 inches and Nash placed fourth at 32 feet, 4 inches and in discus Kyle Gross placed first at 108 feet and Nash placed fifth at 84 feet, 1 inch.

Atlanta will compete in the Joe Culpepper Relays hosted by Redwater on Thursday, Mar. 17.
