AMS Rabbits topple White Oak to start district play

Atlanta 42 White Oak 6
Cordemion Roquemore scored three 60-plus yard touchdowns. Cole Hanner added a 55-yard run, Jatevion Ware scored twice and Grayson Charleston also added a 70-yard run.
7A Game
Atlanta 14 White Oak 10 First Quarter - The Rabbs started off the game with a long drive, capped by a 29-yard touchdown run by Jordan Crenshaw and Atlanta was up 6-0.
White Oak went on a long drive of their own and moved the ball into Atlanta territory.
Second Quarter - Cruz Crosby intercepted a White Oak pass at the oneyard line, and on the ensuing drive, the Rabbs were tackled in the endzone for a safety 6-2.
The Rabbit defense came up with a big stop on fourth down on the next drive which gave Atlanta great field position.
A couple plays later, an errant snap was recovered by Crosby who outran the defense around the right edge for a 30-0yard touchdown run. Ware added a 2-point run to put Atlanta up 14-2.
Third Quarter – White Oak put together a nice drive and capped it off with a 2-yard touchdown run to shrink the lead to 14-10.
Fourth Quarter - The Rabbs drove the ball into White Oak territory, but a penalty negated a game sealing touchdown. The Rabbit defense stood tall, and the Rabbs were able to take a knee and win the game.
8A Game
Atlanta 43 White Oak 6 First Quarter - White Oak started the game with a nice touchdown pass, on a trick play, to take an early 6-0 lead.
Atlanta answered quickly, on the first play of the ensuing drive as Brayden Thompson found KD Howell up the left sideline for a 60-yard catch and run. Howell also added the 2-point run to put Atlanta ahead 8-6.
The Rabbs’ defense stopped a fourth down attempt on the next drive setting them up in great field position.
Second Quarter - Kelvin Roberson barreled into the endzone from three yards out to add to the lead. Thompson ran in the 2-point play to put the Rabbs ahead 14-6.
Gaven Bumphus intercepted a Roughneck pass on the next drive and a couple plays later, Thompson found Roberson in the flats and he took it 80 yards for another touchdown. Thompson added the 2-point run to set the score at 22-6.
Atlanta recovered a perfectly executed onside kick to set them up in White Oak territory. Bumphus took a jet sweep around the right end for 20 yards and a touchdown to extend the lead to 28-6.
The Rabbs’ defense forced a punt on the next drive and then Thompson launched a deep ball, snagged out of the air by Roberson, for a 40-yard touchdown pass. Thompson ran in the 2-point play and Atlanta was up 36-6 at the half.
Second Half - The clock continued to run the entire second half. Atlanta added a late touchdown on a 28-yard jaunt by Howell. Howell also kicked a PAT to add to the lead 43-6.
The Rabbits’ seventh and eighth grade teams move to 1-0 in district play and 3-0 on the season.
Atlanta will be back in action this Thursday night at Rabbit Stadium versus the Jefferson Bulldogs. Kickoff is at 4:30 p.m.
