AMS boys’ basketball teams down DeKalb

McLeod Junior High

On Nov. 11, McLeod’s junior high programs battled Hawkins on the hardwood.

The seventh-grade girls fell to Hawkins 28-16 although Andyn Hale scorched the nets for nine points and Kenzleigh Lummus added six, and the seventh-grade boys topped Hawkins 27-24 with Will Driskill pouring in eight points and Grayson Hicks putting up six.

The eighth-grade girls thumped Hawkins 39-14 with solid scoring from both Anna Dempsey who put up 16 points and Raeleigh Rachel who added 11, and the eighth-grade boys beat Hawkins 20-17 with Bentley Austin and Damien Vick each scoring five points for the Longhorns.

Longhorns

McLeod’s varsity boys’ basketball squad handled business against Saltillo on Nov. 12, as the Longhorns topped the Lions 58-40.

The ’Horns took a 26-16 lead into the break and outscored the Lions 32-24 in the second half to seal the victory.

Brayden Bascombe netted 18 points, Patrick Dickerson added 13, Kason Tyson put up 10, Trey Gant eight, Jacob Foster six and Nick Spears three.

Saltillo won the JV game 35-27 with both Clark and Rhodes scoring seven points apiece for McLeod.

8A

The eighth-grade Rabbits got out to a fast start, scoring 14 points in the first quarter in route to a 38-24 victory over the DeKalb Bears last Thursday night.

Hardy Sheppard led the way for the winners with nine points and padded the stat line with several blocks and rebounds.

KD Howell and Aiden Shields also scored nine each, while Kelvin Roberson chipped in eight.

7A

The seventh-grade game also went to Atlanta 36-18. Cruz Crosby knocked down three - three pointers and netted thirteen points, while J’Kyron Anderson added ten and Jayden Moore five.

B

Both B games also went to the Rabbits. Jaiden Finley scored twelve, as 8B won 43-8. Jaxon Durmon had eleven, Riley Sutton eight and Cole Hanner kicked in a pair of threes.

Daniel Webb led 7B with six and Janson Wylie added five, as the final tally was 18-10 in favor of the home team.

The Rabbits will be back in action Monday, Nov. 25 at Liberty Eylau.
