McLeod Longhorns roll into regional semifinals

McLeod’s baseball team has been on a roll since the regular season ended.

After outscoring Cumby 25-3 in two games and winning a bi-district championship, the ’Horns faced off against Cayuga in round two.

McLeod won game one, 6-2, but lost the second game which forced a game three.

The Longhorns won the decisive game, 6-4, and with it an area championship.

In the regional quarterfinal round McLeod faced off against Hawkins.

The Longhorns took the first game, 3-0, but lost the second contest which forced yet another game three.

Both teams gave everyone in attendance shorter fingernails as the Longhorns won the game, 8-7, and another title to add to the collection.

McLeod faces a tough test in the regional semi-final round as they face Garrison.

The Bulldogs finished first in District 23 with a 16-0 record but the Longhorns look at it as both teams are 0-0.

As of this article the match-up with Garrison will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday, May 27, at ETBU in Marshall.

Game two will follow game one 30 minutes after and if necessary game three will take place at noon on Saturday, May 29, at ETBU.
