Daimion Collins named to both Iverson and Jordan Classics

Big things keep coming Daimion Collins’ way.

After a solid junior year of high school basketball the giant Rabbit garnered plenty of attention.

On October 31, of last year Collins verbally committed to the University of Kentucky, and made it official when he signed his national letter of intent to play for the Wildcats Nov. 17.

The 6-foot-10, 5-star basketball specialist helped the Rabbits’ basketball squad go 19-5 overall, 12-0 in district play and get to the Class 3A regional semifinals.

He averaged 35.2 points, 14.4 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 6.2 blocks per game for the Rabbs this season.

For his amazing efforts Collins was selected to play in the Hoops for Autism game, was one of just 24 players nationwide to be selected to the 44th annual boys’ McDonald’s All-American team, was tabbed MaxPreps’ Texas Player of the Year and was named a Naismith Third Team All-American.

If those honors weren’t enough the towering Rabbit turned Wildcat with an albatross wingspan of 7-3 was recently named to rosters in both the Iverson Classic and the Jordan Brand Classic.

Although the Jordan Classic will not take place for a second consecutive year due to COVID-19, Collins impressed many in the Iverson Classic.

After his showing in front of NBA scouts at the Iverson Classic, Collins is now projected at No. 12 overall in ESPN’s mock 2022 NBA Draft.

Clayton Whittenberg and Kaden Fincher, both sophomores at Queen City High School, capped off a great year on the water with a top 10 finish in the Ultimate High School Fishing Classic on Lake Bob Sandlin. These student anglers have been consistently finishing at the top of the 105-boat field throughout the year.

Their standings in the Angler of the Year points race was highlighted by a pair of top 10 finishes on Lake O’ Pines (seventh place) and Wright Patman (sixth place).

At the end of the tournament trail this duo finished in 13th place and earned them a $1,400 scholarship for the team.

Clayton and Kaden had a great year learning more about the lakes they fish, bait selection, and tournament preparation.

They also continued to build relationships with other anglers while practicing good sportsmanship.

“Congratulations to Clayton Whittenberg and Kaden Fincher for a great season on the Ultimate High School Fishing Tournament Trail,” Courtney Allen said. “And a special thank you to their sponsors KLW Dirtworks and Kandis’ Hair Design”.
