Lela Mae “Aunt Mae” Watson, age 99, of Atlanta, Texas, went to be with the Lord, September 27, 2020, in an Atlanta, Texas nursing facility.

Lela was born, March 13, 1921, in Cass County, Texas, to Thomas and Arra Stovall. Lela was a member of Calvary Tabernacle, Queen City, Texas, where she taught the kindergarten Sunday school class for many years. She was a former member of the Atlanta Art League and also kept children in her home. She loved her children, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and the children she kept in her day care. She enjoyed oil painting and fishing as well. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis “Luke” Watson; her son, Henry L. Watson and wife Lou Ann; two brothers, Burton Stovall and Mervin Stovall.

She is survived by her two daughters, Betty Williams and husband Earl Wayne of Atlanta, Texas, Linda Whitley and husband Leslie of Atlanta, Texas; brother, Daniel Stovall of Mooringsport, Louisiana; three grandchildren, Cindy Montgomery and husband Darrel of Austin, Texas, Greg Watson and wife Sissy of Midland, Texas, Craig Watson and wife Randi of Spring, Texas; six great grandchildren, Tyler Watson and Carly of Corpus Christie, Gentry Staugh and husband Fred of Monahans, Texas, Hayes Watson, Hatcher Watson both of Spring, Texas, Kasey Montgomery, Dakota Montgomery both of Austin, Texas; three great-great grandchildren, Lawson Staugh, Harlon Staugh, both of Monahans, Texas, and Penelope Watson of Corpus Christi.

Services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, October 1, 2020, at Calvary Tabernacle, Queen City, Texas, under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service, with Bro. Billy Dupree officiating.

Visitation was from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, September 30, 2020, at Hanner Funeral Service.

Interment will be in Laws Chapel Cemetery.
