Dinner theater coming back to Linden

Linden’s first dinner theater and murder-in-the-library drama in February 2025, drew such a crowd they are going to do it again. Some 99 people settled into Linden’s Senior Citizens Center to dine and be in a mystery that night.

The audience had to vote in the last act to reveal who done the deed. Turned out it was then town mayor Lynn Reynolds, but even she did not know she had done it.

“We kept the mystery from everyone,” Librarian Denise Haas said.

This year’s dinner and mystery theater will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19. Lasagna is on the menu but, again, no one knows who done it “We’ve kept the mystery from everyone,” Haas said. However, there is no mystery about the dinner theater’s purpose. It’s to raise funds for the town library.

“It’s for us to get together and have fun for a good cause,” Haas said.

If you are thinking of attending, simply call either of these two telephone numbers. The library number is 430-218-8770 and Denise Haas’s number is 903-6500489.

The dinner theater was an imitation. Haas had attended a dinner theater at the Hughes Springs Library and decided Linden could have one of its own.

“It only required the high school culinary department do the food and serving — for class credit as well — and then we would sell tickets and act out the parts,” she said.

The library is considering having the event quarterly. “Our library must earn community support to keep our doors open,” she said.
