Queen City powerlifter Abby Leverett placed first at the Redwater invite and first at the Sabine invite.Leverett is shooting for another state appearance this season.

Queen City’s powerlifting program competed at Redwater on Jan. 22.
For the ladies, Abby Leverett placed first in 148s with a total of 880 pounds, Raven Durmon placed third in the 132-pound weight class with a total of 435 pounds, Lyndsey Stewart placed third in the 148-pound weight class with a total of 590 pounds, Elizabeth McElhiney placed eighth in the 148-pound weight class with a total of 380 pounds, Kaleah Garner placed third in the 181-pound weight class with a total of 615 pounds and Aniyah Wilson placed sixth in the 181-pound weight class with a total of 555 pounds.
For the guys, David Jackson placed first in the SHW weight class with a total of 1620 pounds, Thomas Guest placed third in the 148-pound weight class with a total of 970 pounds, Chanz Metzger placed fourth in the 198-pound weight class with a total of 645 pounds, Trent Treadway placed fourth in the 181-pound weight class with a total of 1,000 pounds, Dion Metzger placed sixth in the 181-pound weight class with a total of 890 pounds, Brayden Cook placed seventh in the 181-pound weight class with a total of 875 pounds and Cameron Clarke placed seventh in the 165-pound weight class with a total of 815 pounds.
On Jan. 31, QC Iron competed in the Bo Bates Invitational held at Sabine High School.
The Queen City girls finished 10th overall with nine points. Abigail Leverett finished first in the 132-weight class with a total of 855 pounds lifted which automatically qualified her for regionals in the 132-weight class.
Kaleah Garner finished fourth in the 181-weight class with a total of 615 pounds lifted, Hayden Sullivan finished ninth in the 114-weight class with a total of 440 pounds lifted and Elizabeth McElhiney finished 24th in the 148-weight class with a total of 405 pounds lifted.
The Queen City boys finished seventh overall with 13 points. Thomas Guest finished first in the 132-weight class with a total of 965 pounds lifted, David Jackson finished second in the SHW weight class with a total of 1,585 pounds lifted, Semaj Booth finished fifth place in the 148-weight class with a total of 1,095 pounds lifted, Easton West finished ninth in the 165-weight class with a total of 1,015 pounds lifted, Alex Helmick finished 10th in the 242-weight class with a total of 695 pounds lifted, Chanz Metzger finished 11th in the 198-weight class with a total of 660 pounds lifted, Dion Metzger finished 11th in the 181-weight class with a total of 890 pounds lifted and William Hall finished 14th in the 220 weight class with a total of 760 pounds lifted.
