Emergency Service District 2 appreciation banquet

Cass County Emergency Services District 2 (CCFD2) has held a Christmas community banquet for its fire fighters and cadets for more than 20 years. Recently, the district heard Cass County Judge Travis Ransom term their protecting endeavors a “sacred” service.

“Whenever you rescue someone’s home or life, you are doing that kind of service,” Ransom told the about 70 people present.

The CCFD2 includes the fire departments of Queen City, Antioch, Domino and ones under construction at Cass and Midway. The area covered involves north of Atlanta to the Sulphur River.

ESD2 holds its appreciation banquet at the Queen City Methodist Church. It is also the evening for giving out awards earned by the cadets and adult fire fighters. The top awards are Cadet of the Year and Firefighter of the Year.

A view of the photos from the evening will show the impact especially of the cadet program which is the main functioning program in the county. Bloomburg has a cadet program which meets with ESD2.

Recent improvements mentioned by Fire Chief Eric White are the remodeling and enlarging of station 3 at Domino and a building for station 5 in Queen City that will give the district a presence on the west side of the tracks.

The department is also constructing a three-story drill tower at the district’s training center.
