Auxiliary Christmas tree fund drive
The Christmas tree silent auction hosted by Christus St. Michael Atlanta Auxiliary is underway as 15 decorative tabletop Christmas trees are being shown to the public in the hospital’s cafeteria.
This auction ends this Sunday, Nov. 9, at 4 p.m., when the auxiliary’s gift shop participates in Atlanta’s Sunday Open House. This community event is from 1 until 4 p.m.
The Christmas tree auction is one of the auxiliary’s best efforts to raise funds for scholarships awarded to local students who are entering the medical profession, said Babs McCoy, auction committee chairperson.
“Each year the trees get better and better. We have such good artists who design and make them. And it’s all to the credit of the community which support us,” McCoy added.
To bid, one can go buy the cafeteria daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and sign the appropriate list.
“There’s no holding back on the theme of the decorations,” said Barbara Green, auxiliary president. “The holiday atmosphere is what seems to count. While at the hospital one may also see and leave a name to be put on the auxiliary’s memorial angel Christmas tree.”
“Having one of these trees in the home certainly celebrates the season,” McCoy said.
