Cullen Baker Fair celebrates 51 years
As of Oct. 17, of this year there are 180 booths committed with two weeks to go before the day of the Cullen Baker Fair on Saturday, Nov. 1. As always, the fair is on the first weekend in November.
The Cullen Baker Fair opens at 8 a.m. with food booths available and a few with breakfast fares; especially a cup of hot coffee and fried pies the CB Fair ladies have been making for several months. Don’t forget the wide variety of food booths that are available to satisfy one’s taste buds, and the Masonic Lodge provides inside protection from the weather with their food.
A few things have changed to make the Fair more exciting for those that attend. The renovation of the grocery store into a beautiful City Hall and Community Center for Bloomburg. The Country Store inside the Community Center will be full of furniture, frames, jewelry, homemade jams, jellies, relish, and sauces; handmade items, dishes, pottery, lamps, baby items, toys, wooden items, some collectibles and Christmas items just to name a few.
Tickets for drawing of special handmade and other items of the fair can be purchased in the Country Store.
The Fair will have wooden benches scattered in specific locations to stop, rest, and visit with a reunion of friends. The booths will close at 5 p.m. and that is when the announcement of prizes are won, present or not. No cars will be allowed on Main Street until the booths close. Streets will be blocked for the Street Dance at 7 p.m. Don’t forget the parade at 10 a.m.
For the young at heart, there will be Bounce Houses and Slides; however, for the not-so-young, there will be outside demonstration of Iron Works and Blacksmithing, including Larry Patterson’s Antique Tractors and vehicles at the School Parking on Cypress Street.
Come help us celebrate more than fifty years of enjoying the Cullen Baker Country Fair in Bloomburg, the “Biggest Little Fair in Texas!”
