The Amity Study Club of Atlanta, a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC), will join clubs across the country in observing the National Day of Service on Friday, September 27, 2025. For this year’s project, the club chose “Healthy Relationships Matter: Ending Teen Dating Violence.”

Teen dating violence affects one-in-three adolescents nationwide, yet many cases go unreported. To raise awareness and provide practical support, Amity members are assembling 30 “Respect Packs” for distribution at Atlanta-area schools. Each bag will include a journal and pen, encouragement cards, resource information with hotline numbers, and small items of care such as snacks or stress-relief tools.

The club is working with local school staff to ensure the packs are dispersed discreetly by counselors and nurses, allowing students to access resources in a safe and private way. In addition, Amity will provide materials on recognizing warning signs of unhealthy relationships, along with information for educators, parents and community leaders.

Amity Study Club’s goal with this project is “to spark conversations, provide resources, and empower both teens and parents to recognize the signs of unhealthy relationships,” Local and national hotlines, including Love Is Respect, the National Domestic Violence Hotline, RAINN, and Texarkana-based Domestic Violence Prevention, Inc., will be highlighted through resource cards designed for teens to carry discreetly.

By combining education, awareness, and service, Amity hopes the project will not only raise awareness but also open the door for an ongoing partnership with schools to address teen dating violence year-round.

Observed September 27, the National Day of Service unites communities through volunteer projects that give back and make a positive impact. Amity Study Club is proud to take part in this worthy project.
