Lucky U Rescue launches campaign
Lucky U Rescue, a 501(c)(3) foster-based animal rescue and the only organization of its kind in the area, is excited to announce a new crowdfunding campaign on GoFundMe to fund the construction of a dedicated animal shelter.
With land already purchased and paid for, founder and Executive Director Lindsay Robbins is rallying community support to build a facility that will serve as a haven for stray dogs and cats, rescuing them from the streets and rural dumping areas of both Bowie and Cass counties. The campaign also seeks ongoing donations and volunteers to sustain the rescue’s mission of providing medical care, spay/neuter services, and forever homes for animals in need.
“Lucky U Rescue is more than a shelter— it’s a movement to change the culture of pet ownership in our community,” said Lindsay Robbins, Executive Director. “The new shelter will be a critical solution to the area’s dumping problem, giving abandoned animals a safe place to heal”.
Since its inception in October 2023, Lucky U Rescue has rescued over 250 animals, providing them with critical veterinary care and placement in loving homes. The organization partners with animal transportation specialists and other rescues to safely get strays to spay/ neuter-mandated areas in northern US states. The new shelter will enable Lucky U Rescue to expand its reach, providing a centralized location for taking in strays, offering classes to educate the community on proper animal care, and hosting adoption events to find rescues their forever homes.
Rita Youngerman Coe, a volunteer and foster for Lucky U Rescue says, “The number of street dogs I’ve taken in are countless. I help a lot but there’s still many that I can’t help due to space. We need a safe place for these animals”.
The GoFundMe campaign welcomes donations of any amount to help build the shelter and support ongoing care for animals. Those who prefer to donate directly to Lucky URescue can contact Lindsay Robbins at luckyurescue@gmail.com for more information.
Beyond financial support, the rescue is seeking dedicated volunteers to assist with animal care, event planning, and community outreach. Lucky U Rescue’s motto, “Making a difference by being the difference,” reflects its commitment to involving the community through fundraisers, educational training, and volunteer opportunities.
