Fifty-Six Patriots

Fifty-six patriots stood together to sign the Declaration of Independence. In doing so, they pledged not only their fortunes and their sacred honor—but their very lives. Each man knew the cost of defying the British Crown. As Benjamin Franklin famously warned, “We must all hang together, or, assuredly, we shall all hang separately.” And with bold defiance, John Hancock signed his name large enough, it’s said, so King George could read it without his spectacles.

These were not reckless men—they were resolute. Their bravery endured through years of war and sacrifice. They chose courage over comfort, conviction over compromise.

From that courage, a new nation was born—one built on the revolutionary idea that human dignity is universal, and that every man, woman, and child is entitled to a life of freedom, opportunity, and hope.

As we celebrate this Independence Day, may we remember not only the fireworks and festivities, but the fierce determination and vision that made our freedom possible.

Happy Fourth of July—and may we continue to be worthy of the legacy entrusted to us.
