Betty Lou Underwood

Betty Lou Underwood was born April 2, 1943 in Cass County, Texas to Claud and Ruby Jones.

She passed away June 7, 2025 at home surrounded by her family and her precious babies, Dumplin and Thor.

Betty was retired from Pine Lodge Nursing home. She was a wife, mother, and sister but her favorite title ever given was Granny. She was always surrounded with a house full of grandkids and their friends. She loved cooking and having everyone over for fried ribs with all the fixings. She and Rusty would get up at daylight to start cooking when they knew there was going to be a crowd.

She loved working in her yard and tending to all of her flowers or just setting on the porch in her rocking chair. After Rusty passed away she spent her days hanging out watching TV and drinking iced coffee or Big Red. If you ever called her during the day and asked what she was doing she would tell you she was watching Cops and joke that she was looking for the boys on there.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Rusty Underwood, daughter Betty Sue Thomas, brothers Morris (Bo) Jones, Ray Jones and wife Midget, Jimmy Jones, sisters Faye Keller and husband Bill, Daisy Allen and husband Jimmy, Mary Gibbs and husband Charlie, Peggy Jackson.

She is survived by her daughters, Crystal Acevedo, husband Lance and children JD, Elizabeth, Nate Acevedo and Brandon Berry, Cindy Drew and children David, Christy, Dana and Kisha; sons, James Underwood and wife Ashley, Bubby Daniel and children Natasha, John, Lauren, Kevin and Gavin Daniel, Jimmy Daniel and wife Rita, children Claude, Alexis, JC and Case; sister, Doris Aguilar; and a host of great grandchildren and nieces, nephews and friends.

Graveside services were 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at Antioch Cemetery, under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service.

Visitation was from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, before the service, at Hanner Funeral Service.
