The Good Shepherd
Pastors are the Lord’s shepherds He has set over flocks all around the world.
On Pastor Appreciation Day, we honor our appointed shepherd for her service, her commitment, her obedience, her sacrifice and her unwavering faith she puts into the ministry that has been given to her by the Father Who art in Heaven.
She seeks first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness! She searches out the truth and is given it by the Lord.
She has been set up as a shepherd over this flock! God said in His Word, “And I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, saith the Lord.”
She is the head of this body of believers at the Pearl of Great Price Tabernacle.
The minister over this congregation who gives us the word of God, from God.
Most churches take one day a year to honor their shepherd. Just like we do here.
And although we honor her once a year, we are thankful daily for our pastor.
For seeking the Lord on our behalf, on behalf of our church services, on behalf of the ministry set before her.
And just as we honor her once a year but are thankful for her daily, so should it be with our Savior, Jesus Christ!
We have a Good Shepherd who should be honored every day. Who we should thank every day.
We honor Jesus for His service, commitment, obedience, and sacrifice!
A Shepherd Who gave His life for His sheep! A Shepherd Who’s voice we know!
He does these things for us on a daily basis. Even when we don’t know it, He is working on our behalf.
We may never know what He’s kept us from! And just as He does so for us, we should acknowledge Him, thank Him, praise Him and worship Him daily.
Not just once a year but daily. More than one time a day. Do you find yourself thanking Him throughout the day, thanking Him more than once, praying without ceasing?
He paid a great price to free us from sin, from bondages, from snares! To one day live with Him in a place He’s gone to prepare for us!
Jesus said in the Book of John, “I AM (remember when God told Moses, I AM that I AM?) the Good Shepherd, the Good Shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.”
He paid it all on the cross! We could never repay Him enough for what He did for us!
In all of that He only asks that we love the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul and with all thy mind.
He desires these things from us. To love Him and serve Him. To seek Him with our whole heart!
Thank God that the Good Shepherd is watching over us! Our shepherds should be seeking the Lord on all things that concern the church and its congregation!
Shepherds who walk in His righteousness and seek His will! Shepherds who preach the truth!
You see many pastors today that are playing church are playing with fire, Hell’s fire because they are leading the church astray, the sheep are scattered.
The Father said in Jeremiah 23, “Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the Lord.”
Dealing with souls is a serious business. One not to be trifled with.
Pastors are held accountable for what they teach their flock, and so are we as children of God.
Whether we speak before many or just to one soul, if we are leading people we must lead them in truth and righteousness.
The Lord said, “If the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into a ditch.”
If the blind lead the blind, it will cost both their souls. Aren’t you thankful the Good Shepherd is watching over us?
That he put faithful shepherds over you to teach you His Word and how to walk in His ways!
Shepherds who seek Him, find Him and are obedient to Him!
He guides us to safety when the enemy sets up traps and snares. He makes a way of escape!
Our Good Shepherd will never fail us! He will not lose; He will not falter!
Satan thought He had the Good Shepherd defeated so he could come in and destroy the sheep, but the sin of all mankind throughout the ages could not crush Him, death and Hell could not stop Him, the devil could not defeat Him! Keep your eyes to the sky for the return of our Good Shepherd!
