Here’s something fun and interesting for the Where Is It? mystery. So what and where is this? It’s fun because nearly everyone can guess what this is. There are many like it in the county, each probably with its own story and reason for being. So Where Is It? The answer follows.

ANSWER

This distinctive storm shelter is on Rush Street, a block east of the courthouse square in Linden. It’s at the site of the former Glover home. It’s not been used for 40 years. The small bench-like concrete seat is not a place for people in a hurry to rest. It’s a cover for a ventilation hole. The site is in line with the First United Methodist Church parking lot, and it is also near where once was Linden’s elementary public school building. The school and play ground areas may be marked by the iron ore rock and stone fences one sees in the area.
